I keep trueing the surface flat on the engine side to provide a good datum

then I keep using the engine block as a guide to keep everything as straight as I can

http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing63.JPG http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing64.JPG

the starter pocket was all detailed out

http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing65.JPG http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing67.JPG

I keep using the datum dowel pin I built in the first phase of the build to center the trans side

http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing68.JPG http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing69.JPG

the interior of the housing worked out very nice and everything lines up correctly

http://www.billsautofab.com/images/6G72adapterC4bellhousing70.JPG

the diagonals will show up better after casting, I like a little detail so I know my work

Hey did you try the starter? I bought one from a 3000gt and it bolted right up and gave what I thought was enough clearance. Only thing is I need to get a smaller brake booster. I am gonna try one from a D50 or Dodge Challenger 80's model. The brake booster from these are suppose to be 1 1/2 smaller in diameter so that should give about a 3/4 of an inch room.

No i havent got a starter yet. Didnt know if I should get the kia or the 3000gt.. I ran into a problem though.. I have a really nice RPS flywheel for the 3000gt engine but the kia tranny needs a pilot bearing and the flywheel has a really small hole and from what I heard does not use a pilot bearing. Soo, i may have to see if someone will machine the hole larger to tolerance fit a kia pilot bearing..Only thing i did starter wise was try the 3000gt tranny gasket on the kia tranny and the bottom half nothing lined up.. That worried me until you told me the 3000gt starter fits..

you can use a foxbody booster and master from a gt. It takes a little doing, but thats what I used. Its longer but smaller and will def give you the room you need. Heres a pic. My brakes work great, and can be better once I update the calipers and rotors.

No thats the stock quest pedal assem. I had to modify the pedal to get it to work. And yes I just re drilled the fire wall and pedal bracket to get it to bolt up. Not exactly an easy job, but do-able. The booster is from a 1992 I think (fox body like 80 something to mid 90 something) and the master is from a cobra,1993 I believe. (cobra is a bit bigger bore) my friend runs huge brakes on his mustang with the same master, so its good for down the road upgrades...

Cool thanks I'm gonna try the 80's Dodge Challenger or D50 booster first. Its suppose to be 1 1/2 inch smaller in diameter and bolts right up. I Edited by Mingo1

you can get a 5 speed from a Mitsubishi Triton/ Pajero from down under. after 06 i belive they use a aisin 5 speed might want to look up the part number on the bell. and use a gm aisin 5 speed. also the 04-06 kia Sorento 5 speed, they use a 6g74.

I know the Montero Sport 91-99 used the 6g72. That was recommended on one of the many swap sights I've been too. And ma bad KT, just noticed that post above mine was form 2012 LOL. But I'm looking into a 6G swap so I've been through all these pages several times. THANKS 3sdsmer for the Kia info. Didn't know they used the 74.

you can also fine 6g in these cars http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Sigma_engine kia and hyi. the ezest swap would be the 04-06 kia sorento or 94-97 mitsubishi montero sr for rwd dohc set up. ive spent time looking itno this. ive had a few 3000gt vr4. in the 500-700+ hp range. looks like you can use stock turbo manifolds as well jus need to filp sides. and you can use any upper intake manifold you wish. the xg350 looks to be best. and or this http://www.xcessivemanufacturing.com/ONLINESTORE.html?cid=45&step=2. good luck with build

The manifolds will not work from the vr4. I am using one from a n/a 3kgt and one from a Montero. The Kia 5 speed is a huge transmission and if you are using a manual car, you will have to cut the tunnel for it to fit. Easiest rwd intake is the Diamente or just flip the 3kgt intake manifold.

Glad to see some posts in this thread after 2 years lol. What about the montero spot transmission? How big is that? I know up to 94 the Mighty Max used a 6g72 as the v6. Even had the 6g74 up to 04. What about those trannies?

the TT manifold will bolt on the heads. the isuue is space not sure if the (front) moved over to the driver side would clair the engine mount. the late model montero and 04-06 kias but used aisin auto boxes. a340. so a toyota auto trans will work with a 6g7x bell.

Auto trans... its like nails on a chalk board lol. I think the easiest find would be the Dodge Ram D50 truck. If you put that in on Car-parts(dot)com you'll get a list of both d50's and monteros. And they pretty cheap too. You looking at anywhere from 250-700. those pick ups had the 72 but i don't know how much power they'd be able to hold down.

the MM v6 was auto only. i belive all the monteros 5 speed here in the us are 4wd. i do know theres a 6g7x aisin rwd. 5 speed i belive its the ar-5 but its not here in the us. some mitsub dealers can order over seas parts but you need the part # to order. after that nexted best is pick a trans and have bill h make a custom bell.

the MM 6g72 was auto 4x4 only/ montero sport there was 2 5 speeds 4g64 rwd. or the 6g72 4x4. the trans codes your looking for are r5m31 r5m41. going to be vary tuff to fine 1 in the us. unless yu order from a dealer that can order non usdm parts. or jump on the AU ebay site. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MITSUBISHI-TRITON-ML-3-5I-5-SPEED-MANUAL-2WD-GEARBOX-06-2006-08-2009-/290817530601?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b6135ae9

this will gave you a idea the 1st one is a aisin box looks to be a AR-5. you can get these from small gm trucks/ toyota trucks. i no longer have mitsubishi CAPS if you can order a bell from mitsu. it would be ez bolt on trans.

Pontiac Solstice is the answer. They came with AR5's and cheap as hell.

86k and it's less then 400 lol. Since its the Aisin trans the bellhousing form a montero will bolt straight to it. They also work with the bellhousing to r154's according to some of the supra forums I've read. But this looks like the remedy.

***EDIT***

They have montero bellhousings from anywhere between 78-150 bucks :D
