verde2002
First question is how can I verify my car was an actual factory SHP equipped car? Also how do you adjust the shocks and how do I know if they are the adjustable ones? I do have the 8 and 9 inch wide wheels. Another hint I got which might verify it is an SHP car is the tire size on my door jamb lists 245 for rears and 225 for fronts. Can you tell if it is a SHP equipped car by the vin number? Frenchi934
Take the wheels off. If the stamp on the inside of the wheel lists it as a 16x8 on the front and a 16x9 on the rear it has shp wheels. While the wheel is off, look at the struts. (if they're factory struts). An shp strut has a knob on each strut with 8 positions. that is how you adjust them. Aside from the struts, springs and wheels, these are the only differences. VIN will not tell if the car is an SHP. There are knobs on the shocks. To make them stiffer do I turn them clockwise or counter? Thank you. Just out of curiosity didn't the SHP wheels have the wider tires so the fact that the larger tire size is on the door jamb can't that be used to verify that it is a factory SHP car? Indiana
The tire sizes listed on that tag on an SHP list both tire sizes if its an original SHP optioned car meaning you'll see four tire sizes otherwise someone just changed the rims. There's a big knob on the SHP struts you can't miss it. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/208297_1018930451705_1778479606_36333_4410097_n.jpg

Below is the tire size tag from my door jamb which only lists tire size for my car and not the smaller size and I am pretty confident it is original to the car and not added later. It looks just like your tire guide minus the smaller tires. Take a look and let me know what you think. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z432/verde2002/Conquest%20Starion/IMG_0468.jpg Edited August 24, 2011 by verde2002
Indiana
That VIN is 1988 Conquest and the tag I posted is on an 89 Starion. I don't guess I've payed attention and seen that tag I'll have to go out and open a door on an 88 and look. Those are the optional tire sizes. verde2002
I also own an87' and there are no tire tags on the door jamb, is this because it was removed or is the tire chart in a different location?

Must of been removed - I have an 87 Quest and the tire tag is on the door jamb.
