Terminated Posted February 28, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2011 Lmao, I've got a decent set anyhow, its nice to have a friend with a StarQuest that got a metric f-load of spare parts... unfortunately he got a passenger door, not a drivers... No, Jeff went with me, it was pretty decent. Especially considering it was supposed to rain like a mother in SoCal that day, and I barely turned on the wipers once. Missed everything. Double side note, tranny is in the car (alas, not permanently, as the clutch and flywheel did not follow suite). But we came up with an ingenious way to rid the car of the shot Crossmember-Body Rubber mounts (one of which was missing). A Set of 3/8ths ID Poly Sway bar bushings were the perfect width for the lower part of the stock bushing(between the member and the chassis), but taller than the top, so I had to get longer bolts, works like a freaking charm though, ill grab a pic of that today. Had to order the upper mount (to the trans) as I didn't have one. Should be able to fab up the Trans mount and then pull it, install the Clutch and flywheel and get the trans in permanently today, I'm just hoping the drive shaft I bought from scotty dont gets here today as well. Unfortunately, i cant get the car running until Wednesday or later (when i get my Stainless clutch line that i ordered 10 minutes ago, again, car didnt have) but it should be close... I didn't take any pics while farging with the trans. but it currently has a very beef extension. mount. I definitely need to take some pics of how I fixed the crossmember bushings but yeah. I drove it down my street with an open dp. it seems like it runs and spools well. smoked a little on startup but it has been sitting... ill post pics after work tomorrow. Terminated Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Share Posted March 8, 2011 Finally drove the car more than down my street. sputters a tiny bit but otherwise it runs good I had to pull the turbo because the top downpipe mounting stud sheared 3 times... but thats all fixed, one thing of note the *DM 3" TBE fits like COMPLETE AND UTTER s***. im taking the thing down to a good exhaust shop wednesday to get it fixed because of how bad it is, it took me 3 hours of fiddling to get it to even remotely fit. the way it sits it scrapes on medium bumps and hangs lower than a horses junk. the quality is good the fitment is just terrible. anywho, now that ive driven it a little more regularly it seems to be running smoother and doesnt smoke nearly as much. like i said it runs pretty good, im going to go get it registered and smogged tomorrow (cross my fingers on that one, no cats, but i got what i got, if need be i will steal jeffs exhaust for a day.) i think it may be good because he passed with a gutted precat and no maincat, so i may be good, but we will see... like always, no pics because i am allergic to cameras apperently, ill get some eventually once its running and driving. I lowered it a couple of days ago. I used my birthday to sleep in and then do a little detailing on the starion. Im gonna hit it with a buffer on tuesday and see how shiny i can get it, but i got the wheels cleaned up a bit (theyre still rough, but im getting another set. Shes still on temp registration, i took it to get smog and it failed, but we know why and its fixed (EGR was disconnected entirely, so the NO was high, and the fill tube was leaking and i forgot they tested the tank... its all fixed and going back tomorrow) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v236/BANDGEEK234/Starion/DSC_0020.jpg Got those starion tails on and ditched the quests. looks much better. Also got my 3 inch fitted. Its a 3" TBE with a main cat, into Dual 2.5 inch Spiral flows into 3.5 inch Dual wall tips. Terminated Posted April 18, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) Earl, thats my friend james' car, we had actually just finished gutting the car and installing a corbeau seat with a 4 point. its a pretty neat car but its kinda sorta slow... Most of the goodies are on the car, the stainless steel lines and such. I wish i had a stock exhaust so i could put that on and sell the 3 inch for what its really worth... but i dont, so thats not happening, other than that i took off the hardpipes and i'm selling those separately... Yeah ill probably get another one eventually, but as you can tell from my garage, i prefer the american stuff, combined with the fact that this car is just too small for me (i can drive it,but in 6'6 and im not the skinniest dude in the world, my knees are up against the knee guards) Corey, thanks but pictures add 1000 hours of dent removal and polishing...
