BADBAJA
Here is a couple pics of my custom homemade side exit exhaust. I used 2 of the nice slide on clams and a flex chunk 2 1/2" all the way to the tip. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k146/mazda_6t9/26b7f3ec.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k146/mazda_6t9/5304bc5b.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k146/mazda_6t9/bd1af7fd.jpg
The Rabbit1
Me thinks you got the filter on the wrong side of the air pump..

Technology
That doesn't restrict it? It looks cool though. And if your wideband has a scaled narrowband output, your one wire sensor is redundant and unnecessary.
BADBAJA
It restricts it but it's alot bigger than it looks. Same thing I tell the ol lady and it's kept her around for a bit. Try to get a sound clip for it tomorrow.
Earl
looks good=) why not opt out for a 3" exhaust while you were at it? and put the wideband 32" away from the manifold? More around the bottom bend of the DP
Technology
Earl, manufacturers suggest 18" away, but mine is half that at most, and it's fine.
Ron Burgandy
Did you put mesh screen over the end? And you should paint it black or a color that blends it with the car. Looks good though. How did you route it? Didn't the other guy go inside his car and out the passenger side qp?
Earl
MistaPickles did the side exhaust that was routed inside the rear and came out of the rear quarter=) And I thought it was 32" for a wideband, to keep it from burning up?
Ron Burgandy
Pickles did a good job but how did baja run his? It looks like its ran under the car.
Earl
Looks to be that way exactly. He just put in an angled pipe to kick it out to the side.
BADBAJA
I will try to get some pics underneath for you guys. Pretty much it goes in the factory exhaust location until half way back. Then there is a hump in the sheet metal underneath the car if you look. It's perfect size for it to exit right under the door. Well I wanted it further back so I put another bend to have it go back further. You can see the black pipe underneath in the pic. I could have went bigger but this was my first side exit and first homemade tip. I used 2 1/2 aluminized that's why I used the nicer slip on clamps so they can be removed multiple times without crushing the pipe like the regular clamps do. I also do not plan to raise the boost much so 2 1/2 should suffice. Wideband placement is a weird one. Some manufacturers go close like plx and some go far away like aem. I always go by what the manufacturers suggestion. A friend of mine is a gm master tech specializing in boosted corvettes. He has 32 years under his belt and he ALWAYS puts the Wideband as close to the turbo as possible. He even said mine was to far away. Lol
Earl
what brand wideband do you have? And did you make it all yourself, from the downpipe to the tip? And the tip, is it round and then just has that mesh to cover it? or did you actually do some cutting and fabbing to make the exhaust tip the same shape as that mesh? BADBAJA
It's a plx m300. They are good widebands. I just picked up another one for the Camry I am building for $80 used. Here is a short video clip.
Convette
I think it looks good man. The only thing I would do is make it follow the contour of the rear wheel opening a little more. I might leave it open or paint the mesh. But I like the idea. Nice work.
Drwojo
Very nice. I didn't put that much time into my side exit. Now I kinda wish I did. I also like that my vid is the first one on the side bar.
