spdracr58
so I just bought Boosted88TSI 84 Starion and am trying to get it ready for 24 hours of lemons, am familiar with turbo cars, 1.8t VW and Audi V6 bi-turbo S4 but when I look into the engine bay of this Starion am feeling a little overwhelmed. there are a lot of missing vacuum lines which I believe to be the major cause of a rough idle and unable to idle, so I was wondering if anyone had a link to a vacuum line chart or any other lines for this car because I am going to end up running all new lines to start fresh, anyone that is local and knowledgeable with this car, Santa Cruz area, I will supply the beer if you are willing to stop by and lend your expertise. Crazy larry
Should be a sticker under the hood follow that and replace all of the hoses with new silicon tube

shift1313
i have a few pictures with locations on my 84 but ive removed everything it didnt need to run. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj39/shift1313/Starion/engine%20bay%20location/EngineBayIClocation.jpg here is pretty much everything you need. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj39/shift1313/Starion/EngineBayICvac.jpg rough idle can be causes by a lot of different things. Bad egr, stuck jet valves, dirty injectors and so on. Also check out the larger line that goes from the intake manifold to the brake booster. It splits off and goes to the abs module. these lines dry rot pretty bad and may be leaking but look fine. Does the car run okay?
spdracr58
The car runs okay but i am missing the vacuum line in green that goes back across to the intake there is an jimmy-rigged aftermarket intake with no connector for the airflow sensor
shift1313
the line that goes back around to the air cleaner is for barometric compensation. The solenoid on the firewall next to the map sensor switches every 30 seconds(I think) and samples atmosphere before the turbo. This line could be anywhere buts best to be in the air filter housing. Do you have no MAS in your airbox?
spdracr58
There is one in the airbox but no airbox just a cone filter with no inlet piping for a vacuum line
FlattopMike
Like Shift said, the line to the air filter housing isn't really a vacuum line. It just samples air pressure for altitude adjustment. I just left mine open at the solenoid and it works fine but I guess I am at some risk of dirt getting in. shift1313
mike, i think the biggest risk there would be if your hood seal at the back edge were to leak water by it may suck water in.
