I blew my rings in cylinders 2 and 3... It also leaks from every where. also has a possible cracked head. I want to autoX/run it at race tracks. NOT DRAG/HIGHWAY. So i'm thinking 4G63 is going to better balence me, and lighten the car, and be easier to mod, and be easier to find performance parts for. SO, I'm wanting to compare a little bit here.

cost difference:

4G63T swap $$$

G54B complete rebuild $$$

I'm wondering which would be the more efficiant move.

I used to build 1G/2G DSM's... did cyclone swaps, and 6-bolt swaps, and built them to near 300HP.

so I know where to get parts, what parts to use, and how to balence mods (aka what fuel matched to what turbo matched to what intercooler, pipeng size, exhaust size, etc)

you thoughts?...

Swapping engines will put you in a different class for Autcrossing.

There are some that have swapped in the 4G63 engine.

If you have all the parts, go for it.

I prefer the torque of the 2.6L G54B myself.

You will need a standalone computer or graft in an eclipse one.

the hard part will be getting a trans to mde up, there are wide block 2.0's to bolt on to the stock trans, and they will accept the 4G63 goodies, but those are hard to find. the rest is basic converiosn stuff.

to make a g54B longblock capable of 300 HP sustained abuse is gonna run ~$2500. Stock rods and crank will be fine well past that power point, but you'l need a new race preped head/cam (~$1000), and forged pistons with good rings (~500). and the basic rebuild parts/ machine work (~1000).

the cost of the motor rebuild probalby isn't much more than the 4G63, you'll just have an easier time buying the acesories to make that power on the 4G63. the cost difference is probaly a wash betweenteh two in the end.

On the G54B It will take either a maxed out stock TBi setup with all the tricks (~$500) and a 18G or better, or a MPI setup (~$1500-2000) with 16G or better to reach those goals. A headder ($300-500) will also most likely be nessesary.

All of the above setups will require hard pipes, 3" turbo back exhaust, and a bigger intercooler. (another ~$1000).
