pyro_nate
hello all maybe someone could help me here. I have a 84 conquest with a bad mas. I found a 1g mas wire the six wire plug. I know everybody says to use the seven wire but I can't find one. My main question is what is the differance. I've read that the 7th wire is a mas reset and isn't even used on our cars. Is there any other differance between the two? If so is it possible to wire this one in and get the car to run reliably till i do my mpi conversion? From everything i've found they are the same and read identicaly except for the reset wire. Can anyone give me a straigh answer on this?

pyro_nate
ok the top post in this thread shows how to wire it to a 83 flatty. i checked a 84 and they use the same signals so then why won't a 1g work on a 84?
pyro_nate
ok lets simplify this. what is the differance between the turbo and n/a 1g mas sensors besides the seventh wire. are they calibrated differently? Can a n/a mas run a stock setup reliably?
Indiana
What happened to your MAF? I hope you aren't just going off that "code" and think that means its bad.
pyro_nate
oh no not going by the code. used my vantage and found no maf signal. had my pcm ground and igniton and a good iat reading. went ahead and made the wiring adapter and plugged it up and yes it does work. nominal maf reading at idle for a stock unit it 30 to 50 hrtz. the reading i was getting was 65 hrtz. so it's runing a bit rich but if i open up the unmetered ports alittle I should be able to drop it back into range. pyro_nate
btw even running slightly rich it has alot more power than when my stocker was working. have yet to have a dropout at high rpm.
