and the bearing just to be sure is also used as a clutch pilot bearing?

No, it is different from a clutch pilot bearing. I bought one at a bearing store, was like #35. Last i checked the shafts were nla for the intercooled cars. Do not know about the non intercooled.

Ball, Two Rubber Seals, Angular Contact For Load Distribution, Sealed To Reduce Maintenance & Increase Bearing Life

Clutch Pilot Bearing I.D. : 1.1811"

Clutch Pilot Bearing O.D. : 2.4409"

Clutch Pilot Bearing Width : .6299"

does that sound like it??

MB00 0968 is your front torque tube bearing. Nope, no more shafts or companion flanges sorry, clean that rust out and grease that back up so it will last longer and you'll have to live with the clunk.

so that is the clunk i am get getting going in first. i may know where to find one or two from a guy that has 3 starquest and no windshield. thank you all for the info most helpful.

I don't think your splines look too bad. I recently had mine apart and after a cleaning it got packed with grease. Any clunking is now minimal.

how many miles do you guys go before re packing with grease ??

It was greased when it was new, not full or grease just greased. There is no gasket on that connection to the differential. There is also no vent in the torque tube and condensation does get in there and that causes old bare steel to rust and rust is like sandpaper and just eats it away. If you never have taken that apart and cleaned and lubed it I suggest you do its only wearing out quicker and there are no replacement parts and its sort of a necessary part.

  • 4 weeks later...

I know you've probably gotten this fixed by now but you can go to any autoparts store for the front torque tube bearing. it is a federal mogul part no. 206-FF.

Also yes you can still get the extension shafts and spline couplers through mitsubishi but you will be waiting at least 3 weeks to get them because they are coming from Japan.
