G54B Lifters

Thanks for the reply, I talked to you on the phone today. My lifters are definitely too loose, I don't have any feeler gauges so I don't know how loose but I can SEE a gap on the unactivated rockers. I will borrow a buddies gauges tommorrow and set them. How do I know if I need new lifters? If it won't go down far enough to get proper clearance? Does running them loose weaken them from all the smacking they take? Any info would help, I'm new to these cars. This is my first OH cam car, and first turbo car, and first foriegn built car for that matter!

this topic might be better off in the tech section, but if you have the mechanical adjustable rockers, you should use a feeler gauge and if it's stock, go for .080" on the exhaust and .060" on the intake, and there are "tight" and "loose" settings there. i'd try for a little tighter, so you'll want to have to tug on the feeler to get it out, but not too hard. if you do it like that you won't get much noise.

if you have hydraulic lifters, just get a new set for 45 bucks, they are auto-adjusting, so you install them and forget about them untill they make a lot of noise.

use at least 10w40 weight oil if you're in a moderate climate.
