  1. I just bought a 1988 Conquest and it is leaking transmission fluid and the guy said that the clutch needed adjusting due to it being an aftermarket clutch. I paid $3200 for the car. He also said the exhaust was an HKS, but it's all rusted. How could I tell if it was really an HKS? Also i guess I'm just asking how this whole forum thing works because I'm completely new to all of this, and if my money was well spent? Thanks for your time!

  4. ONLY ONE LEFT!!! I have for sale, 1 of the "elusive" http://autoplicity.com/images/Manufacturers/45px/903.gifLET-M01 Cat-back exhaust systems. This is Brand Spanking NEW, NEVER OPENED (pictured is one of mine opened for pics, however, yours would remain unopened)! These are no longer available through HKS (US) and these are the only ones available in the USA. No more can be ordered or back-ordered from HKS, so I've been told. Here is the info that you will find on the internet about these systems: ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Piping 60mm Tip 60mm Tip Style Single. Specifically engineered for turbo applications that require greater flow capacity than naturally aspirated applications, Turbo Exhaust systems use a straight through design. The increased flow characteristics offer a gain in boost pressure, boost response, a broader power-band and increases overall peak horsepower. Performance increases vary by application, with average gains of 10-25 horsepower. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03230.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03231.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff408/n8tallica1/DSC03232.jpg I'm going to be selling this for close to what I have in it. 6. My good friend/Mitsubishi addict found the Team Mitsubishi Mighty Max for sale locally here in Oregon... of course we had to go and check it out. http://www.davewolin.com/images/truck1.jpg So bad ace, he couldn't resist buying it. It came with some spare parts, which were at a shop not far away. We then learned that the shop owner, Fred Lux, was THE guy who built the Coors Racetruck Challenge trucks for Team Mitsubishi/Dave Wolin, which they also took to Pike's Peak. He also built the IMSA Starion for the same team as well as quite a few other Mitsu's. We ended up BS'n with him for hours, before even looking at the engines we were supposed to pick up haha. His shop workers might have liked the disruption we caused because they started taking smoke breaks to listen to the stories. I could tell he was also a Mitsubishi addict, he liked to use the term "cheap speed" in talking about the turbo vehicles. We had discussed about modifications for Starions vs what they did back then. He also told us stories of the glory days, how stingy Mitsubishi was, as well as adventures and exploits... Mitsubishi lovers must be cut from the same cloth lol. One of his first "claims to fame" was a story about the one of the race trucks, crashing through a pile up at high speed at Pocono raceway. One of the big national papers printed a caption that read something like "Mitsubishi truck crashes and turns into ball of flames flying down the track", in the picture they printed, his name on the truck was just barely visible. A proud moment, he joked. Here is one of the pictures he has, almost center stage, amidst the pictures of race Vipers and Vettes he's built over the years: http://home.comcast.net/~Komeuppance/LuxStarion.jpg The mythical Starion in IMSA class, among the pictures of Eclipses he'd built, right behind a giant trophy for a Viper race. Here's a picture from Dave Wolin's site: http://www.davewolin.com/images/imsastar1.jpg Fred Lux, window side at Road Atlanta 1988. His shop now builds Vipers and Porsches for a national race series, I forgot which, as well as robotics for police and government. He still campaigns a Mitsu in the ChumpCar series, a twin stick turbo Mirage. He also showed us this "drift" big wheel they take to race events, which they like to park next to the line up of Ferrari's or Buggati's, and steal the show. http://home.comcast.net/~Komeuppance/DriftWheel.jpg And here he is demonstrating it for us, out in the front of the shop lol. It was great to hear the stories, and see how laidback the man was. Just wanted to share with ya'll. Maybe my friend will post up more about his new racetruck and some more about the legend of Fred Lux and Team Mitsubishi. In the meantime, here's a refresher about the Starion from current owner Chad (also a local Oregon member): -Robert

  9. New pricing. Hks fcon with gcc $250 shipped. With all plug and play harnesses for 88-89. Should all so work with a 87 model using the 88-89 ecu. I used this for about a year. $250 shipped. The fcon has a 10 position rotor switch inside. 0 being stock 9 adding the most fuel under boost. I found the fcon extended the hp range of the stock and 1g mas and smoothed out the carp signal these mas's are notorious for under spool up with a bolt on upgrade turbo. You can also use a afc or maft to modified the airflow signal going into the unit, and fine tune with the gcc. The fcon/gcc controls the injectors directly, as opposed to tuning the air flow signal like the maft or afc's. I also have a second Gcc with the plug and play harness to use with your current fcon. A nice addition to your existing fcon if you have one. $120 shipped. These are hard to find with the plug and play harness. The gcc can add or subtract 16% fuel at 500,2000,3500,5000,6500 and 8000 rpm.Setting it for 6cly vs 4 should change the rpm points to 330, 1320, 2310, 3300, 4290 and 5280. The fcon case does have some cosmetic issues. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Parts%20for%20sale/DSC03176_zpsb3308cdc.jpg http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Parts%20for%20sale/DSC03178_zps0e244e6d.jpg Gcc with plug and play harness. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Parts%20for%20sale/DSC03179_zps16a2ea1a.jpg Fcon harnness and map sensor. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Parts%20for%20sale/DSC03180_zpscec50aa2.jpg

  11. I'm in the market for a new exhaust for my Quest. I was searching the forums for the last few weeks and since Joyrgr seems out of the game for now and Burton's Custom designs may be a little too long to wait... I was entertaining some other options. It looks as though there are a few places that still offer an HKS system (for around $360) and I could possibly piece together a Magnaflow system pretty cheaply from eBay vendors. Which route would be the better choice (in your opinion) as far as quality and sound? Or is there a good option that I don't know about? My only concern with the Magnaflow unit is, I'd have to get the piece from DP to cat (for about $100, I need a cat in PA however I no longer have a precat.) and choose a Magnaflow muffler (assuming around $100) but where would I find the Curly Q piece that goes between them. I'd like to have a stock rumble, nothing loud and annoying. I don't want her to sound like a bumblebee. Like everyone else I'd like to do this as cheaply as I could, but I don;t want to hang a turd off of my rebuilt engine either. Lemme know guys, I value everyone's opinion. -N8
