  1. Sorry to hijack this thread. I have white smoke coming out of my conquest. I just rebuilt the motor and put almost 4,000 miles on it when she all of a suddon let lots of white smoke coming out. I know its either a headgasket or the turbo seals. Question is how can you really tell which it is? I checked compression in 3 of the cyl and got 135 lbs in each one. I do have a leak down tester but did not use it yet to see if I have bubbles in the radiator ( take it this would be a dead give away for blown headgasket? ) How do you test for blown seals in turbo charger? Hate to take my head off again. Wizard
  2. No, didn't pressure wash the engine bay or nothing so it's got to be a crack in the head or another blown head gasket. Going to check the tops of pistons when I have time next week and see what they look like. Thanks, Wizard
  3. No, motor is running strong. Althought it just started this white smoking last week and I only ran it about 4 hrs like that. Yes, old gasket was completely removed from head and block last time during rebuild. What color would the spark plugs look like if they are burning coolant? It only blows white smoke when it's at normal temptrature or near it. Wizard
  4. Last week my car started blowing white smoke out the tailpipe massivley. It started eating water out of the radiator when it gets to normal operating temp. The temp will rise to near top of temp gage if you drive it for quite some time It seems to have good power yet and I just rebuilt this motor and it started this at 3750 miles on it. I checked compression in cyl 1,3, and 4 and they all have 135lbs in them. Ran out of time to check #2 last night but going to do that. Just wondering if there is any sure way to tell if it is a headgasket that blew or gasket from somewhere else like throttle body that is allowing water into cylinders? I drained the oil last night and it did have hardly any noticable white apperance to it. Thanks, Wizard
  5. I am still thinking on the suspension kit. Will probably get in on it though. Will decide in few days. Wizard
  6. HUH? I clicked on that website and it tries to have you sighn into the mail portion? I take it you were trying to show pictures and parts list from that link. Got any other way to show what's listed in the suspension bushings? Wizard
  7. Leave the divider in there. I ground mine out and it was not as responsive with it in. I bought another top piece with the divider and put it back in and has a crispier throttle response. Wizard
  8. What all is included in the suspension bushings for $189.00? wizard
  9. Appreciate it. Was sure about the exhaust side being .010 but wasn't sure what the intake was to be. Wizard
  10. Can someone tell me the rocker valve lash spec for a cold engine. I have mechanical rockers and I am using a stock hydraulic cam on my 88 conquest. Thanks, Wizard
  11. Yeah, did you do it on a lift or jack stands? I have access to both a lift and stands. How long did it take? There is a old thread of this in the suspension upgrades forums. Says you can do it without dropping tank but kinda harder. Wizard
  12. Dad has these in stock. He had 6 pair of em. I got one of them. His websited did say out of stock but he has some left and changed website. Anyone have any experience changing these out? I looked at it a little but didn't get into it yet or break out the manuals. Thanks Indy for the differential tip. Wizard

  14. I have a spare motor that I am parting out. Not sure of year of it as came with another car and owner new nothing about the spare motor. Is there some numbers on it to designate the year? It's a 5 speed, has jet valves, hydraulic lifters. Head was cracked and I scrapped it. Thanks, Wizard
  15. I have one also. Needs rebuild. Wizard
  16. I would be interested in complete rear bushing kits manual tranny mounts rear diff mounts and does anyone have in a set of poly rear mounts or rear suspension on their car now and how rough does it ride or not any rougher than stock rubber? Wizard
  17. Yep, that's what it is. Torn differential mount. Passenger side. About 20 minuites after I wrote this post I went over to the hobby shop and all 3 lifts were still occupied so I got a jack under the differential and lifted it up and there it was hanging seperated. You could see where the metal round post goes thru the center of diff mount. So guess when its on the ground it pops in and out of the rubber diff mount making the clunk. Can you only order new OEM rubber rear diff mounts from enginemachine or can other polyurethane ones be bought from someone? Wizard
  18. Have a 88 conquest 5 spd. Car has 204,000 miles on it. Never replaced anything in the rear end except for brake pads. Yesterday I noticed when I put it in reverse you feel and hear a loud "thunk" as it feels like the whole rear is loose or something. It does this also when I am shifting and if I don't shift quick enough the momentum will make it when clutch is engaged then disengaged it thunks loudly and can really feel it like the whole rear is being lifted up. If you do it slowly in reverse you can feel something being lifted or pushed down in the rear end. I put in new front and rear drive shaft (clusters cause I cannot remember correct name of them right now )and they have less than 3000 miles on them. Could it be torn rear rubber mount? Can't get car on lift yet due to to many people using the lifts at local place I can get in at to use lift. Other jack being used right now at home to get under it to see what going on. Wizard
