  1. I hate to be the one to say it (not really) but its probably the reason street racing is illegal. Its a shame two people lost their lives but thank goodness no others were involved. Its a statement that no matter how good your "skills" are, you cant forsee everything. Keep it on the track in a properly equipped vehicle...

    1. If you can think of it someone has already tried it.

    2. Pockets aren't deep enough round these parts to make any kind of quantity to make it worth your time.

    3. The best advise, like offered above, is to make some parts for yourself(at your own expense) and post up pics.

    4. Lots of dreamers have come and gone and a couple have taken a LOT of money from some members.

    5. Don't ask for or expect any money up front for something that doesn't already exist.

    1. Not necessarily. Someone may have thought about it, but that doesn't mean they tried it.

    2. Disagree. I have 53 air dam purchases that beg to differ. And I own the mold for all eternity.

    3. Agree.

    4. And they should all be shot dead.

    5. Strongly Disagree. There is no commercial aftermarket for our cars anymore. We are going to have to depend on individuals to help us all out. We can't expect individuals to financially front the entire cost of preserving our rides.

    1. CF/FPR 83 hood, check. 17" replica stock wheels, check, exhaust manifold(that cracks, mulitple offenders), check. FG cowl hood, check. Not to mention all of the other mildly successful GP's(BBKs, braided hoses, poly bushings.), the list goes on. Mudflaps have been thought of but never has made it to fruition. Injection molding is the only cost effective way of doing it and, you of all people, know that.

    2. Obviously, MAD props to you for making that happen. Its an unbelievable undertaking on your part and hopefully the product glistens with your hard work and dedication to making it a reality. Lets face it though, for something as important(in my opinion) as a nice looking airdam, 53 seems a little low. *Granted!* this is just right now and, like you said, will own the mold and sell these for eternity. Everyone wants an airdam, how many people really want mudflaps??

Its a statement for how the community sits as far as plunking down a decent chunk of change and waiting months. Its difficult to get a large group to really commit(as in put up cash). Again, congrats to you for the success of making an airdam a reality as well as all of your other projects. They all seem very top-notch.

    3. Its really the way to go to gain credibility, especially if your brand new.

    4. Its deplorable. I cant fathom how someone could sleep at night knowing they ripped off someone who put enough faith into them to send them money. The responsibility is on both side though.

    5. I strongly disagree with your strongly disagree(this is the internet, we can argue here ;) )! You proved yourself well as have a lot of other honest guys(Randy, Burton, BrianPaul, quickconq, natallica, Big John, the list goes on...) but you know how it is, you start with a small project that is money out of your pocket at first and build a reputation where you can be trusted with $300 for 6+ months. Its taking reasonable steps and building trust with the community by following through with a commitment and delivering what you promised. It seems like the guys who ended up screwing people started with too big of a project for what they realistically could get accomplished(DOHC anyone??). I wouldn't give a dime to someone who knew someone who knew someone who did awesome work and had never proved themselves with anything other than a grand idea. To each their own, but I am very cautious when it comes to sending money to people I don't know.

Do the mudflaps OP! Injection molding would be the best method, making them by hand would be the worst. There a few more options in between those though. Git er dun!

  3. Ive got a decent amount of odds and ends brackets and the likes. Let me put it all in a pile and come up with a very reasonable price for you. Id rather see the stuff get renewed and reused rather than throwing it out.

i understand you are hurt but like i said previously i wont be asking for money. i dont want any handouts for something that may or may not be possible. and my guy was not going to reproduce these wheels for our cars he wanted to make 22's for muscle cars and trucks/duellies, but i did suggest he should make a 17x10 0to+10 or-10 offset.

on another note. would anyone be interested in painted sheet metal spoilers?

Im not hurt, Ive just seen this same situation play out more than once. Someone has grand ideas because they know "this guy who does (whatever)". Posts up some dreams and a few people show interest but will eventually flake out on you anyway. It either fades out to nothing or someone gets ripped off. If you dont believe me take some of that ambition you have and read back in the bs section and the gp section. Please dont take my tone as discouraging or condescending, its just the way things seem to work. Best of luck to you.

  6. Thanks guys! Even though I don't own my Quest anymore I still love being part of the community and helping out where I can. I still have plans for a Mighty max so hopefully I can remain part of the extended family :). You guys are the best!

Oh... and my birth year is off by a year on here. Its the big 4-0 for me today. Older but not sure about wiser ;)

  7. Drop the tank and clean/ inspect all of the components. The access hole is just too small to check everything. There is a sock filter at the bottom of the pickup tube that should be replaced. Remove the conical filter right before the pump and replace with a wix filter with 3/8 in/out barbs. Check inside the tank for rust while its down. If the filler hose that connects the filler neck to the tank is problematic it can be replaced with a similar size frim napa (the oem is no longer available).
