  1. The sender with the smallest thread size that mounts to the thermostat housing itself, single terminal, what is its function and resistance test value? I'm not referring to the two-terminal, oval base CTS; nor the single terminal temp gauge sender..my '87 has a third sender/sensor which is located on the thermostat housing. The epoxy is cracked on mine and it reads zero resistance. DAW
  2. Problem resolved. Seller just got a bit behind with things...my part is on its way. DAW
  3. I paid for the accordian intake hose by PayPal over 2 weeks ago and haven't received it, and no response to my e-mail inquiry...please update me on the status of this item. DAW
  4. The direct injection seems like a good idea. Remove the jet valves, install an injector where the EGR was, and use the jet valve passages like a miniature manifold to deliver supplemental methanol or gasoline under boost. DAW
  5. That could be a problem...the jet valves are mechanical even with a hydraulic valvetrain. Why do they float easily? DAW
  6. Scott, Thanks, I meant methanol; not methane. I went back and edited but can't edit the title. DAW
  7. This has crossed my mind but I haven't really looked into it in detail. In theory, though, jet valve plumbing could be incorporated by on-demand delivery of methanol (under high boost situations) as a power supplement through suppression of detonation (which leads to retard-spark response of ECM). The jet valves are allowed to operate continuously but the flow of methanol is solenoid-valve delivered on demand to the plumbing. Don't rottisserie me; it's just a thought/concept...thinking out loud DAW
  8. Front 7X16 offset 23; Rear 8x16 offset 11. Includes spacers to bring offset to stock specs (F=18; R=0). Look great on a Starquest. Excellent condition. No tires. Pick up only. Cash or PayPal only. Dave at (360) 204-5427.
  9. Wow! I received my 2.5" straight-through exhaust system and I'm still smiling about this one! Nicely done. Thanks, DAW
  10. Why did you remove this set-up? Is the connecting hose between the MAS and the turbo available? Dave
  11. New CL ad, new price; no tires. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/1446390937.html
  12. See CL ad: http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/1431547229.html Will include proper spacers for Starion to make offset precisely correct; $15 for set. No shipping. DAW

  17. Kane, Here's some pics of the head. Note the electrical connector off of the rear side of the head. The secondary induction/valvetrain kicks in at 2,500 rpm via triggerring 12 volts to the connector. 18. Kane, Here's some pics of DASH Turbo manifold and a set of freshly reconditioned G64 piston/rod assemblies which are also available. I'll get photos of the head later today or tomorrow. 19. I'll see if I can get a weight re shipping. What's your zip code? DAW
  20. Excellent condition. Local pick up or I can meet to deliver in Seattle area but I don't really want to ship. I hate to part with this and was going to build a unique (to this part of the world anyway) engine for my Starquest but I just have way too many projects. I have seen Sirius/Cyclone intake manifolds available on this site and on E-Bay..........if you are reading this far, you probably know what the DASH head is; if not, look it up.... I'll forward photos to interested parties. Head is in excellent condition, appears to be low miles, and exhaust manifold is like new. $190 for both. Cash or PayPal. I'll be listing on E-Bay and Craigslist soon. PM me. DAW
  21. Am I reading the Magna price list right? The numbers in blue are Australian dollars so in U.S. dollars the manifolds are in the $200-$350 price range? If so, it seems like a lot of performance bang for the buck! re the battery interference issue, I've installed a TEP rear strut brace which incorporates a battery tray in its center (about $210) and I put an Optima spillproof battery there. BTW, just an observation but is the plenum on that intake from a Toyota 22RE or just a look-alike? DAW
  22. Hi, I'm a new member and joined looking for a power steering fix but I thought I'd pass along an engine mod I did a couple of years ago on my '87 Starion. The cam sprocket is indexed to the cam with a rolled steel pin and there is no provision for adjustment to account for timing chain stretch over time or sprocket/chain wear. I wanted to put my cam timing a little advanced and compensate for the retarding effects of wear, and I was looking for crisper throttle response off boost. It was a simple straightforward procedure but there are a couple of things that you definitely don't want to do: don't loose the timing chain; there is a rounded shelf located beneath the cam sprocket to set the sprocket on to prevent slack in the chain when removing the head so that the chain doesn't come off the lower sprocket, however, you will be removing the cam sprocket to drill it so you'll need to fashion a small block of wood to wedge between the inside edges of the chain so that it stays put. Once you've done that (break the cam bolt loose before placing the block) remove the cam sprocket. I used a Mr. Gasket #4760 cam timing kit for a SBC and just followed the directions: drill the locating hole to 13/32" (that's real close to the 3/8" or 7/16" bit you might already have...Don't do it!) I'd recommend a titanium bit not because the material is very hard just because you want it precise, this is the heart of the engine. Pick a bushing according to what cam timing you want: the black is 0, silver is 2, copper is 4, gold is 6, and gray is 8. These last four can be used to advance or retard the cam timing according to how they're installed. These degree values are exact for a SBC and unless the Starquest cam sprocket is exactly the same dia. with exact locating hole placement, they are approximate in this engine (but I think theyr'e close..it's relative change not absolute that we're adjusting). I selected 6 degrees advance for my street driven purposes and I figured 2-3 of these degrees probably went toward the wear compensation factor to restore the cam to it's initial factory spec. If I were road racing at high rpm/high boost all the time I might have wanted to leave in the retarding wear factor and even add some more retard by bushing selection. Either way, once the modification is done it is reversible and tunable/adjustable. The mod worked great on my basically stock engine. It does not change the length of a stretched timing chain nor the distance between crank and cam centerlines but it's definitely effective and easier than changing the timing chain. Don't forget to remove the piece of wood. DAW
