  1. I have a Black '88 Starion for sale, the motor needs to be put back together. Here's a list of what's all included: 1. Black '88 Starion with sunroof and minor rust in the fender wells and some other minor rust spots on the body. 2. Sunroof glass - needs the outer liner but glass is in fine condition. 3. Machined block (0.030 over) - minor surface rust, been sitting in my garage for over 1 year. 4. JE Pistons with machined rods to match - some minor surface rust from sitting in my garage for over 1 year. Whole rotating assembly was balanced at the time. 5. Transmission - drained of fluid. 6. Extra front and back rim with some curb rash. 7. Front bumper/airdam has some cracks and a hole where a truck's tow hitch backed into it leaving a hole the size of a tennis ball. 8. Fidanza aluminum flywheel. 9. No name brand Stage III complete clutch kit (pressure plate, throw-out bearing, 6 puck clutch disc). 10. T3/T4 Turbo - I bought this turbo from a friend "used" but I never used it. 11. Stock Turbo. 12. ARP Main and rod bolts (rod bolts are already on the rods). Car was originally from New York and was brought to Southern California, I am the 3rd owner. The interior is nothing to write home about, the seats are torn in the "seats" and the headrests. The radio faceplate is broken. I've kept all the motor components boxed and/or bagged but time has caught up and some surface rust is present. I would like to get rid of her instead of parting out because I need to make space in the garage plus I need the money. Please ask and I will send you pics upon request. Car will need to be towed on a flatbed from 92841. Call me on my cell (714) 251-4425 if interested. I will take any reasonable offer over $1000. Thanks, Tommy
  2. Again, how many miles does it have on the block?
  3. How many miles does the motor have on it? All stock or built up?
  4. I just found out my block, that I am in the process of rebuilding, has nine (9) cracks in it. It was hot-tanked and magna-fluxed. If anyone has a good spare one to sell and can ship to 92844 (or if close enough to OC I can pickup on a weekend or weeknight) please let me know.
  5. Do you a good block? Ship to 92844? The shop told me that mine had nine cracks in it. :?
  6. Shifter is sold, ECU is being sold bundled together with the motor.
  7. Will check on the ECU, brake calipers and rotors sold already.
  8. Only have the passenger front seat, color black with blue trim.
  9. This is from a wrecked car (other parts also available) that was rear-ended. Engine has 4000 miles on it and runs perfectly. $4000/plus shipping for the complete motor longblock and turbo. Shipping available through RoadWay.
  10. Yes, got some beige door panels. Very patient and delivered. Definitely a peson to be trusted. Excellent business transaction.
  11. Thanks for the advice, I have taken pics of everything that I could think of before taking anything apart. I have the 88 Conquest Service Manual and I think with the added help from SQC, this should be a great educational experience. Thanks for all the support.
  12. Sounds good to me, TB rebuild underway now. I'll give updates. Tommy
  13. Hi everyone, I just love this site and all the great knowledge that I have gained since I joined. In June of this year I picked up my '88 Starion for $300 and now am starting the restoration process. I have verified that the current engine runs but makes no power and metal to metal noises. 13 years ago I had an '87 and being young and stupid I killed it. Now is my chance to redeem myself by doing the current one right and I am planning to keep this one for the rest of my life (no, really ). Now my question: What is the level of difficulty involved in rebuilding a complete longblock G54B? Seeing pictures of the rebuild (yes, I saw those) and actually having some engine building experience to add to the visuals are totally different. I have some mechanical experience (brakes, clutch, non-welding/machining) and tools, but never have I rebuilt any automobile motor/engine. RC cars yes but this is new to me. Is the G54B an "OK" engine to learn motor rebuilding? I have the '88 Conquest Service Manual that I got from Books4Cars.com, is that and SQC/*DM enough? From what I have read in SQC so far I am afraid of doing a motor swap with a $2000 motor because of all of the horror stories. The TEP prices posted on their website seems a bit expensive for what I want or is that the price for a good motor (...you get what you pay for...)? By the way I bought a T3/T4 turbo from a friend and will be using it later on after I break in the new motor (that's the current plan at least) so I want to have all the internal "goods" like Wiseco/J.E. pistons and stronger connecting rods etc...but for now I will use the stock turbo probably for about a year or so. By the way I like to get the most "bang for my buck" always...so if the costs are the same for the following, what would you all think is better? Me + SQC/*DM + Manual + More tools + Possible Mistakes or Pay Kelly or Dad or Professor to rebuild for me? I do have a desire to learn but if the G54B is an engine that you guys feel is better left to those with experience then I suppose I will have it done by a pro, after all, I don't want to screw this one up . I always thought I was the only one on the planet who like the Starquests...finally I found a "home", thanks again to all who love these cars and make sites like this possible. Thanks, Tommy
  14. Bought a Starion Tail Light, it was everything as promised. Fast shipment and great communication. A true professional. Will definitely use again.
