  1. Here is a simple to use instruction on the seal replacement: http://prozac.orcon.net.nz/eciguide/rebuild.html I went to my local industrial supply company for the O rings. You may also have a back pressure issue with the injectors. If its not too late you may try useing some techron concentrate to get your injectors flowing better.
  2. I do have several folks interested and I reposted on craiglist just in case the deal falls through. Heres the current link. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/2382455503.html Thanks for the reply!
  3. I've had lots of offers for the hood, and some for the louvers.. Between those and the turbocharger I'm sure I could get more money, but thats not my goal here.. Thanks for the reply!
  4. I have a pretty good idea...Considering the hood, the overall condition, and the rebuilt turbo. I dont want to part it out though. Its in too good of condition to junk. A friend of mine who is into the Conquests and Starion's thinks I should be able to get anywhere from 1200.00 to 1500.00. For now I'll wait and see.. Thanks for your interest
  5. Probably because we don't have the rust problems like other places ;>).
  6. Thats how I want it to go too..Kinda like a part of the family. I know I could get more if I parted it out which is out of the question. Thanks
  7. I hate getting rid of it but I don't have the time to put into it. Got too many projects, and a wife that wouldn't understand me taking on another ;>). The car needs engine work..It runs but wont pass smog. I'm fairly certain the top end is in good shape since I replaced the head several years back. I also had the turbo rebuilt recently for close to $800.00. Drove it around the block once after the rebuild and called it quits. I have more pictures in the gallery. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/1130660796.html
  8. Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'll call around and weigh out the cost to rebuild. The thing I have trouble with is the hard to find parts (mechanical not as much). I do have a couple of outlets for used parts though. I must say it's a little discouraging when I find that certain parts are obsolete.
  9. I 've had this car since 1984, and I'm not sure if I will be willing to go more into this at this time (I'm taking a time out for a couple of days to decide my next course of action). I currently have more projects than I have time for right now, and I'm not sure if I want to pay someone else to do it..... I'll keep you posted. FYI, I bought the temperature senser at auto zone a couple of years ago. Appreciate you insight! TY
  10. The head I bought was new. I had a reputable speed shop put it together for me. They ordered it out of Sacramento, and said that the thickness & metelergy was acually better than the stock version. It performed well for a while.
  11. I took your advice and checked the compression. I think this may be the problem. My readings were 60, 30, 85, & 65 psi for cylinders 1, 3, 4 & 2. The timing was on spot and did advance as I increased the RPM's. I tried squirting some oil into 1 & 3 cylinders to see if the compression would come up and didn't see much change (55/60 on cylinder 1 and 30/30 on 3). I may be wrong, but this indicates to me that its a valve or head gasket issue. What troubling for me is I put a new head with reworked valves and new seats about 4 years ago, but did not do anything to the bottom end. There is about 206,000 mi on the car. What do you think? I also checked the inlet and outlet temp on the Cat converter and had mid 300 degs on inlet and mid 200 degs on outlet (car was warmed up to normal temp) I was told by someone that it would be higher than that if it were working correctly. Appreciate your help!
  12. The problem developed over time. I did change the coolent temp. sensor a while ago to see if that was it, but no difference in performance was noticed. I also changed my fuel injectors a few years ago too. I'm begining to think that my catalytic converter is plugged, making a back pressure issue..I'll try unbolting the inlet flange and see if that changes anything. Any other experiances would be appreciated. Thanks for your reply!
  13. I have an 83 Starion that has been running bad and did not pass my recent smog test. I've done the typical tune up tricks which didnt make much of a difference in the performance. Here's some of the symptoms: The car sputters and stalls on cold starts, and had high CO readings when tested at the smog test station. Also, I didnt get a full boost on the turbo charger when I increased the RPM's (while driving). So when I took off the turbo exhuast piping to throttle body, I discovered oil residual. My thought was that I had an internal seal leak, causing the CO issue, and power loss, so I had the turbo rebuilt (wasn't cheap). After putting it together and test running the car, I noticed no improvement or increased turbo boost. In case your wondering, my oil pressure instrument gauge reads normal. My thoughts on the next course of action was to see if the diaphram that connects to the waste gate functions, or possibly disconnect my exhuast piping from the cataylitic converter to check for improvement (possibly plugged?).. The other issue is the O ring around the sensor inside the air filter is damaged, and does seem to affect the idle when I move it. I tried using RTV as a temperary fix to see if that was it. I also changed out the O2 senser. Any Ideas? HELP! I dont own or know how to use some of the fancey test equipment, but have no problems changing parts.. Thanks in advance!
