No you need the MB572256.The 88-89 really didnt go bad

That link above says to use MB571381.If you do somemore digging you can find that the bad ETACS unit is MB510682, which was in my car until i put my MB572256 that was in my parts car.The date on the door of my parts car was august of 87 .So i figured it would work ,it hasn't really worked the way it should have since i put it in there.So i guess the 87's up to 4-87 had to use the MB571381

I was going to put a aftermarket oil gauge in it and switch to full synthetic oil When my girlfriend went to look at it i had the girl start it up to see if it sounded like and it didnt sound bad.I figured id drain the oil to see if there's any shavings in it just to be sure.Hopefully she just didnt buy a lemon.

I just bought a 1998 volkswagon passat 1.8 turbo which the turbo oil seal went and there's oil in the intake.My question is are these hard to change on these cars?I went out and bought the dealership repair manual off of ebay and waiting for it to get here.Any help would be appreciated thanks Gary

Im switching my 87 to a 88-89 heater control because i believe mine is shot.I tried just switching the front faces but it didnt change anything because someone took the wire for my rear wipers and used it for the lights for the climate control ,so i was wondering if the part that plugs into the harness was the same or if i need a 88-89 harness that plugs into the unit.Any help would be appreciated thanks,Gary
