  1. The wheels are Boyd Coddington's. I had to run a 17'' wheel for those big wheel wells. I actually have the front on air bags. I have about 4 inches of travel up front. Wanted the adjustability because the roads suck out here in Vegas. Thanks for the props guys. I am always around! I might vanish for a while but the love for the STARQUEST will never die. I will, one of these days, get another one.
  2. This is my 1970 Fridolin. I still have yet to get another Starion or Conquest. I still love them and will get another one someday but I still have love for my aircooled VW's also. 3. Well I never said the bug was better than a starquest number one. I have been messing around with bugs since I was 11 and I am now 31! So not real cool do hop on this thread and bash bugs. Everyone has there own flavors. There are plenty of people that think the starquest is hideous looking but would never post about it unless there were a***************s. I personally love the starquest in every which way. I plan on getting another one real soon. How many of you can say you have had your starquest in a magazine. My bug has been in three. And as far as resale, I have $15,000 into my bug and I could probably get $22,000 right now for it. I probably had about $8,000 or so into my Starion and could only sell it for $4,500. My 2 cents!
  4. Here is why he wants a 63 Ragtop guys! The VW bug is the baddest car ever! Those of you that might know me know that I love the starquest and I should have never gotten rid of my Greenstar. I regret it to this day. But, I built one sweet bug after I sold it and I don't regret that. I am in the market to buy another starquest but I am taking my time and checking out everything. So untill then, here is a pic of my bug! Stealth Si, I would have kept the starquest and saved up for the bug man. They both are bad a** cars. 5. I am definatly getting back into the game. BOOSTED88tsi's black one seems like a pretty damn good deal. The tranny is not a big issue. I am super mechanic! I can fix anything! Just kidding! But I don't mind getting something that needs some work. I will keep in touch BOOSTED88tsi. Thanks all. Steve
  6. I appreciate everything guys but I am looking for more of a local or close to local sale. Somewhere in Cali, Arizona or here in Nevada. Thanks again. Steve
  7. I will definatly keep that in mind. I am looking for something a little closer to Vegas though. Thanks! Steve
  8. Ah, no hatin, just preference. I have seen plenty of cars with Burgandy but I am just partial to black. I am definatly glad to be back. There is a red 89 here in town that needs a timing chain to run but exterior and interior needs some nice work. The guy is selling it for $900. I might pick up on it and make it a project. We will see. I still want to here from people to see what is out there. I want to keep my options open. Thanks! Steve
  9. What's up guys? I am definatly back and looking for a car! Anyone know Steve in PA? The guy who bought my Greenstar? Maybe he would sell it back to me! Anyway, I am looking for an 87, 88 or 89 Starion or Conquest that is in fairly decent condition that has some mods and looks decent. No burgandy interior, only black interior. Any exterior color will do. I am hopefully looking for something in Vegas, Cali or Arizona. Let me know guys. Thanks! Steve
  10. Yeah, the VW tires are pretty skinny, makes it easier to tuck in those fender wells. I still have to drop this thing another couple of inches. Need dropped spindles in the front and to adjust the rear to squat somemore. All this work to sell it and buy another starquest!!!!
  11. D, Yeah, even though I don't have a starquest right now they are always on my mind. I saw a black metalic 89 sitting in a garage in my in-laws neighborhood a few weeks back and I stopped to talk to the owner to see if she would sell it. I am still working on her. We will see but it is always nice to come to the website and see what is going on. I saw the video of the 500+ starquest. Man that is impressive. I thought my Greenstar was fast but damn!!! Good to hear from you D. Monty, that is where I started my VW thing was out in So Cal. I grew up in Ontario. My first car was a 68 bug and I have had probably 30 different VW's in my days. But I still have love for the starquest and I will have another one. Steve
  12. Here is a pic of my latest restoration. It was a complete ground up resto. Once I sell it I am going to get another starquest. Enjoy! Steve http://www.lasvegasvwclub.com/gallery2/d/30872-2/56ovalrag%20001.jpg
  13. Right on man, I am always willing to lend a helping hand or two, or three, or four etc....... Yeah, I got a big heart and what not! I like helping people in need! I know good carma is there. All good deeds are noticed in gods eyes and that is payment enough. As long as I feel in my heart that I am doing the right thing, that is what matters. I know some way or another good things will happen to me. A lot of good things already have. I can't complain about life too much, except for the fact that I don't have a starquest right now! That will change soon. Thanks for the kudo's Jason. Sorry if I sound kind of sappy guys. Steve
  14. Sorry guys, I have been in and out of the scene since I sold my greenstar but I still hopp on as much as I can. I am glad to see people are still interested in the 1G on the 86. I can tell you that it surely made a big difference on my old 86. I was running 20 + PSI and it ran beautiful for me. I still am around guys if you need any help with this. Shoot me an email. Steve

  16. If you go further into the Engine mods you will see my post exactly how to hook everything up. Steve
  17. Just wanted to bring this to the top. A couple of people have asked me about it. Steve
  18. Well I guess I should put my two cents in here. From what I have found, running w/out the MAS is a smoother idle but in first gear on initial take off there would be a small hiccup when you first take off and also when running, say down the freeway, and if you just mash the gas the air/fuel get's all screwed up and bucks and sputters. You actually have to feather it and it won't do that. As far as performance goes, I think it runs pretty good. You get a lot of airflow but from what I am told, the 86's that can run without the MAS, the ECU goes into a set mode and that is why you can run without it. The ECU reads that the MAS is not working or not there at all and goes into like a fail safe mode so you can still run. But it is not really right. Some people like running it like that but I prefer to use the 1G MAS. In Engine Mods there is a post that I put in there on how to run the 1G MAS on the 86. It has been working pretty good for me. Not sure if anyone else has been succesfull with it yet but what a difference. Also, I think it was the early 86's that could run w/out the MAS. Mine is a Jan 86. I have heard the the later 86's need to MAS to run. Hope that helps! Steve
  19. Hey Bryan, looks good but I would not trust those couplers from lowes. Those were not designed for high heat conditions! They also expand because of the material. I speak on this from experience man. It won't last long bro. Steve
  20. Just wanted to say that I had sold a set of 86 850 cc injectors to Mark which he sent the money in a very timely manner. Unfortunatley, not to my knowledge the injectors ended up being internal leakers. So they were no good. Mark was totally understanding to the fact that I did not know they were bad but I told him I would make it right to which he did not even ask for the whole amount back. Mark is an huge asset to this site and I look forward to future dealings with him. Steve(Greenstar)
  21. Well I can run w/out the MAS, however, there is a stumble on initial take off and let's say you were just cruising on the freeway and want to just mash it and take off, with the MAS not hooked up you can't do that. The car falls on it's face. Now if you ease into the throttle it is fine. I just did not like those couple of flaws with it. As far as running a hacked stock MAS, I have heard good things and bad things about them. I have been told from numerous members that it has worked for them and some say that it totally killed the MAS after being hacked. I know G54Bstore has been succesfull with hacking the stock mas and running the secondary 88/89 injector. But then again you don't want to run toooooo rich. You will end up rebuilding your block in no time. Hey G54B store, have you checked your oil lately to see if it is strong with gas fumes? How rich are you running under WOT with the secondary? I still want to try and run the secondary also. I am working on an oil leak right now but after that it will be back to testing and tunning. Trying to get ready by the 26th. That is the next races! Steve
  22. Well I am still trying to get the green injector to work. I am going to have to tweak with the MAS a little more. I popped the green secondary in and it was fine at idle but seemed to overload under WOT. So I am going to try and open up the metered side. I will keep you posted! Steve
  23. Ok guys, I don't want to post this like it was a simple job. -It took a lot of work to figure it all out but now I know what to do it should be easy for all of you 86 guys to get this to work. -Keep in mind the only way this would really benifit the 86 guys is if you have some mods and you are running a Fuel Cut Defencer. -I will list my mods just so you can get an idea: Clevit bearings, race prepped rods, JE's 8:1, balanced rotating assembly, total seal rings(stock head) Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch(Verdict still out on this one)He He BSE Kit Roller Rockers HKS Fuel Cut defencer 3 inch exhaust/no cats/dyno max muffler Full hardpipe kit with moded IC/Turbo XS RFL BOV Upgraded fuel pump Hallman MBC 18G/TD06 Forced Performance Turbo MSD Blaster II coil NGK plugs and wires I think I got everything! -Here is the wiring for it: 86 AFS - - - - - - - - - - - - DSM AFS grn/red - - - - - - - - - - - - grn/orng red - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - grn/red blk - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - grn/blk wht/blk - - - - - - - - - - - - grn/blu N/C - - - - - - - - - - - - - - grn yel New +12 Volt switched- -Large Red N/C - - - - - - - - - - - - - - grn/wht N/C means you will not hook these up **** -I would not even try hooking this up without an A/F guage. -You need to be able to monitor your readings while you are doing the process. Now the way I actually got it to idle and accelerate properly is by giving it more or less air. -You might have to play with this a little by covering the metered side or the unmetered side. -Sounds ghetto but this is how it worked for me. -I actually ended up covering maybe a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the unmetered side to get my proper A/F reading. -My gauge bounces back and forth durning idle and under WOT I am seeing about 2 bars into the rich. - I covered the unmetered side with heavy duty duct tape. -Like I said, it sounds ghetto but man, what a difference in performanc. -Like I said, you might have to play with the metered or unmetered side to get it perfect but it works and I swear by it. -Any questions shoot me a pm or and email. -Happy Boosting! -Steve
  24. What's up man? Yeah, I was before I blew my stock motor. But I am doing my break in on my new motor and I want to make sure that all is running good. Plus, with the mas unhooked before it seemed that i did not get an accurate reading on the A/F gauge. I want to try and get the 1g mas to work and then ultimately go to the GM MAF route. We will see. I am just trying out my options. Steve
  25. What's up guys! I am in the process of trying to get this to work. I have a few more bugs to work out on my side. I have an over rich problem which is caused by not have my water temp sensor hooked up because the little connection broke off but I am going to fix that this weekend. I did splice in the 1G MAS to my stock 86 MAS harness. I only had to run one extra wire to a switched 12v and 4 of the like wires. Two of the wires from the 1G mas will not be used. I don't want to preach that this works yet because I have not smoothed it out but so far I do get an idle and I can get some RPM's but with my over rich problem it is hard to tell if this works 100%. I have to give full credit to Chad for the wiring set up! Thanks man. I will keep all of you 86 guys posted if this works or not. I am going to work on it this weekend and I will give you results! Keep your fingers crossed. This will be a big step for all of the 86 guys to get rid of that damn stock mas! Thanks! Steve
