  1. I think I will just buy and OEM replacement. I have not had the success I had hoped with Blaster and Accel on a stock system. I do have a set of Nology Hotwires from a long time ago. I might put those in. I though I had some red Taylor's somewhere but forget why I took them off. I think they were popping off the distributor on my first PF road trip.
  2. I am going to replace my coil as I suspect it is on the way out. I have an MSD blaster in there now and previously had both MSD and Accel. I have heard pro and cons for both. Should I just stick to an OEM replacement or are the new Blaster 3 coils worth it?
  3. Can I get them turned around quickly? Suggestions on shops? I have spare primaries but no secondaries and I would hate to have them out for repair when it is time for Branson and PF. I am going to pick up a new coil in a day or so, too.
  4. Everything checks out OK. The issue begins at about 4K RPMs whether under load or not. I swapped out primary inj but do not have a spare secondary. I tried an older set of Trilogy injectors (650,950) and I could barely get the car to idle. I think I recall having that issue when I first got these years ago and I am thinking I got a bad set used. My other thought is possibly a spark issue. I recall having coil issues many years ago and dropped in a new red one. Aren't these notorious for these types of issues? I am going to look to see if I kept a spare around. Anyone else have suggestions? It will be a long trip boring trip if I have to stay under 4K to Branson and PF.
  5. That is what the buzz is. I am still going to wait and see until they can provide tangible proof before I feel satisfied.
  6. Congrats and welcome to the Republic of Texas
  7. My car has been stuttering lately under boost. I have a high milage turbo and may be time for a rebuild. Other than that, it run smooth and the AF meter will be rock steady. Also every now and again I get a little hiccup reminiscent of the vacuum advance on the distributor popping. I have checked all the vacuum lines and it all seems fine. I will check the vacuum timing advance again. Any other ideas?
  8. Thanks. Everyone got the all clear on Sunday and Monday for some. I feel bad for those who lost their homes. All four corners of the Republic are on fire. Perhaps we should start fires along the border to clear out all that vegetation. That would curtail drugs and illegals for a while.
  9. The homeless man admitted to leaving burning coals going as he went the convenience store just a few hundred yards from his camp to buy beer. He was caught on surveillance at the store. He had turned himself in later that evening and had burns on his face and hands. http://www.austinhsem.com/clients/2333/388667.pdf His camp was at the bottom tip of the fire perimeter and the convenience store is the structure right above the "B" in "Wheeler Branch" at the T intersection of US 290. My parents' house is on the east corner of Hanbridge and Scenic Brook and a friend's house was next to a 50% burned home on Southbrook.
  10. I need to do this as well. I have a small star on the passenger side but my shield is so pitted that I practically go blind when the sun hits it in the morning on the way to work. Looks like a big star field with tiny rainbows everywhere.
  11. "D..detector...d.d.d.d no going...and you tell me do things...I done runnnnnin." Yeah TQ, we were also getting some smoke earlier in the week from out west. It has been extremely windy last few days. Final count was 11 homes completely destroyed and 10 severely damaged. At least there was no loss of human life. I think a few pets went up in flames.
  12. Let's hope they get them under control. The homeless man turned himself in later that evening. He made 10 other families homeless. My parents were over at my house while my brother stayed back to keep an eye on things and grab documents if need be.
  13. So there was some fire drama in my parents' neighbourhood. A homeless man cooking some eggs in the woods sparked a fire that destroyed 10 homes and evacuated 150 ppl, including my parents. Slide show here

  16. See if you can get an experienced StarQuester to go with or meet you there to help you check the car out.
  17. I have a VFR, an XTerra, and the Starion. I trade off taking them to work. My Starion was my daily for 20 yrs and the VRF a semi daily for 10 of those yrs. XTerra has been the main daily for the past 2 yrs. Unfortunately, being a 2003 with a less than stellar supercharged engine, it gets the worse milage. But I can haul all my band and camping equipment now without having to pile most of it in other ppl's vehicles
  18. Well the only place you see 80 right now is on the open IH10 and IH20 interstates once you get west of the major cities like DFW and San Antonio. IH 35 from OK to San Antonio is 70 at best as is IH10 from San Antonio to the LA border. So if you want to go in at full throttle just like Beggar's Canyon back home, it will be out in West Texas.
  19. Saw this today. EDIT: This one gives more information than the original post. It will only be for new roads. http://www.wwlp.com/dpps/news/national/south/texas-may-take-fast-lane-at-85-mph_3767841
  20. Still less than Europe. I hope prices come down or it is going to be an expensive Branson/PF meet for me.
