I have a ECU out of a 88 Conquest with a automatic. Can I use this one for my conversion? Thanks

Can you help me with a 86 ecu upgrade? I installed a 88 motor in my 86. The 88 had a automatic and somewhere I read that the ecu can be used with no problem. Also what do I have to do with the wiring to make the change work? The air cleaner cover housing had a solenoid switch on it which controlled the waste gate somehow which the 86 didn't have. Do I need to make a change to this also? Thanks for your help.
