  1. No, never did anything at all with it actually. It's just sat in my garage since I bought it. This whole having kids thing really takes a lot of time and energy. I should probably be more upset about it than I am, but really I'm not. Sure I'm losing a chunk of change and all, but I think it's better to let someone with the desire take it and do it right than just let it rot in my garage. I do have a old bike now that I've actually been working on. It already runs, and is much simpler (and cheaper) than the Conquest.
  2. Chad: thanks for the paste... and all those pics and info from his old link is still accurate. The Jamex racing seat is gone, but I got a Griffen radiator and a slimline fan for it. The RCI harness is still there, but it needs a bracket for the inside lap belt. The original drivers seat is back in the car now. The SCE headgasket is gone too. After looking back over that thread, I noticed that I left out a few things that I do have. MSD box, adjustable cam gear... maybe more. Monty: Yes, it's backslider's old car. Yes, I uhauled it from Houston to B-more. ($1500 and three days). The wheel came from ebay. It's a cobra rep. I still have the place's number at work, but I haven't seen any ad's from for a while. You have to run spacers on the rear and have coilovers for them to fit. I think the fenders should really be rolled for them to not rub, but I don't know for sure. I have someone on vwvortex that might be intrested in the rolling chassis, so everything else might get parted, but don't all get your hopes up just yet. Interested in trades too!
  3. ****SOLD**** http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3293569
  4. all that stuff isnt useable... hood fenders bumper skin - rebar - sidemarker maybe ( left one ) front end damage pal sorry ... maybe i should of posted and bold and underlined it. Sorry, I didn't see anything about front end damage. Thanks though. Good luck with it.
  5. I'm interested in taking alot of this car off of your hands. I'm in Baltimore, but I can make a trip up to Newark if the parts are right. I can use the hood, grill, side markers, front turn signal assembly's with surrounds, maybe the front bumper, mirrors, header panel, and maybe some other blue parts. LMK.
  6. What about a two-step? Does the controller have any inputs for the knock box, or other type of knock sensor, or for nitrous retard? As far as the pulley is concerned... will there ever be any possibility of getting a crank-trigger harmonic balancer pulley? Is the pulley / sensor availible seperately? Price? Thanks!
  7. Thanks guys, but like I said I have a lender now. gtxthunder is letting me borrow a couple tomorrow.
  8. It's going to be on a trailer, not a dolly, but thanks. And I have somebody lending me two now. Thanks gtxthunder!
  9. Well, the car has one rear, and a spare, so two fronts or one of each.
  10. ****GOT A LENDER, THANKS!!!****
  11. Actually, I was talkin about taking pics of the timing chain stuff. That seems like CAKE compared to the trans. Where does one go about finding one of these so-called "cheap" new transmissions? Right now I'm looking at about $200 for the rebuild kit, $100 for the press from harbor freight (that I'd have to keep at my Dad's or something) and whatever bearing splitters cost (whatever they are )
  12. Awesome, thanks Shelby. When I do all this, I'm going to try to remember my digital camera so I can take pics of the whole process. The FAQ section of this board is nice, but not as nice as the DSMer's www.vfaq.com . The writeups on that site are top notch, and have loads of pics to help with every step. When I had my talon, I spent many an hour just reading through different projects on there. After I take the pics, if someone with some html knowlege wants to put it all together on a page, I'll host it.
  13. I'm not sure if I want to tackle that beast just yet. When I have the trans out, I'll pull the case off, and give things a look, but I'm not sure I'm up to the daunting task of rebuilding one yet. All those gears and keys and rings and bearings and springs... Blows my mind.
  14. Schweet. I'm still working on getting my new 87 back to the way it should be. My order of things are run right, look right, sound right, go fast. Right now I'm still on run right, so these may be something that I'll be looking into around september. I have alot to do mechanically, but as far as looks, I just need an airdam, window tint, and maybe polished wheels. After that comes the stereo.
  15. Prof - I forgive you. ;D Thanks for checking the pan part number. I'm going to email Mike at Rockville right now for a bunch of prices and availibility. I think I'll just focus on the input shaft bearing this weekend. It really sounds bad, and it's not getting better. My oil pressure, as low as it may be, isn't getting any worse. Besides, with my luck, it's GOING to take ALL weekend. I'll PM you when I'm ready to get that oil pump. Thanks.
  16. Very nice. And those aim up and back, or just back? Kinda hard to tell.
  17. Dad: I'm leaning towards the O-ring right now as the cause of my low oil pressure, or possibly something that wasn't installed correctly when the last timing set or the BSE was put in. I'm changing the pump at the same time, so if all this doesn't fix it, that kinda narrows it down to the bearings. Professor: I meant for someone to just double check the p/n for the factory pan gasket that hasn't been listed here yet. I have total cofidence in your part numbers Professor, I just figured I'd use a factory pan gasket instead of a Fel-Pro since I was already ordering from the dealer, and I just wanted someone to make sure that that ONE part number was correct. That's why it said p/n, not p/n's. And who said anything about "time frame"? Do you mean when I was asking if I could jam all that stuff into a weekend? I've only been here a week professor. There's no way I'm trying to discount any of your info as I haven't seen anything yet that I disagree with. I think you definately know what you're tallking about. But there's no reason to try to make me sound like an a$$, which is what it sounded like you were trying to do. Cloyes may make a quality part, but it has been five years, and what I don't know is if that kit came with a new O-ring, and if it did, is it the correct material. I'm going to change the pump if the factory one is that much of a POS. Where do you get one for $140? Lowest I've seen is $189. How do you feel about the HV pumps from Mid-west turbo for $209? Worth it? Since I'm already going to have the crank gear off, and I may have the trans out as well, how much more work would it be to just drop the crank and change the main and rod bearings too? I don't have the time to get the crank turned, so could I just slap some new bearings on there and call it a day? I've never messed with a bottom end before, so this is new territory to me. If this is too far OT, could you just PM me professor?
