I like that idea, thanks! if all else fails at least the valve wont have far to go before hitting the top of the piston.
I'll let you know how it goes!

Ouch, that one looks pretty awful tom! Glad replacing those two are working out for you now.
Replacing one rocker is just fine. No big deal replacing lifters, just be sure they are spongy, push paper clip in hole to bleed if hard, lube up with assembly lube and stick them in.
Perfect, exactly what i needed to know. Thank you!
Also figured I would do valve guide seals since I'm in there, what is the best way of going about that?
I hear that there is a way to use compressed air to keep valves up and also a tool shaped somewhat like a "L" that you stick in the spark plug hole that also keeps them up. I would like to think that i could just use the tool that you put into the plug hole, as i do not have an air compressor yet. Also will need a valve spring compressing tool.
Any recommendations or tips? This is my first time doing such a job and the last thing i want is a valve dropping down into the head...

Hello all, I have a stock engine that was rebuilt by Jasper engines about a decade ago by the PO.
That being said, there has been some issues in the driveability of my quest recently and after servicing/replacing all the known major points of failure for our cars such as:
- Fuel system (injectors, FPR, Fuel Pump, Fuel lines, Fuel filters, Throttle body "rebuild" w/ new gaskets, o-rings and all that jazz),
- Electrical (Wiring, Relays, new Fusible links, injector clips, ISC/MPS, TPS, Grounding points, CTS, ECU)
- Ignition (Servicing Dizzy and installing new Cap, rotor, Pick up Coil, vacuum advance, BUR7EA11 plugs, NGK plug wires, and Ignitor) 10* BTDC base timing
- Emissions (Dad's Turbo PCV valve, New Vacuum hoses, o2 Sensor, EGR Delete)
- Boost Leakdown test - passed
- TPS, ISC reset
I Have STILL been experiencing OCCASIONAL/INCONSISTENT issues while the engine is cold and warming and also issues when under boost - it feels like the turbo is working against the engine while under boost. I try not to dog the thing, but it is my means of transportation.
So to cut to the chase I figured the next best place to look is something mechanically wrong with the engine. I have heard of issues with the Jet Valves and some problems they may cause - that was my prime suspect. Ordered a Jet Valve elimination kit that i had yet to install, so I figured I would knock another problem off the checklist Today.
Off with the valvecover and the rocker assembly and voila! Removed the Jet Valves and put the Elimination plugs in their place.
The Jet valves did not give any indication that they were failing, and looked pretty good IMO.
While i was Inspecting the Lifters and Rockers I noticed one Lifter did not want to slide out of the Rocker very easily like the others, and here is why:

I think its broken. haha
Now when inspecting the Inside of the Rocker, it looks like it has been beat up a little bit on the very edges, not exactly where the lifter sits (about the 11 to the 4 o'clock position in the picture) kind of a ring around where the lifter sits starting at (what i am hypothesizing) is the 2nd oil port on the side.

It is brutally obvious that I will need a new lifter and probably a new rocker arm..
It is the No.1 Cylinder Exhaust rocker.
My questions are:
1) Is it wise to just replace the one lifter? I am not doing anything with the cam - it will not be serviced/ replaced. Will replacing all of the lifters effect anything negatively? (I'm assuming not, but that is why I am asking) I am under the impression that hydraulic lifters are automatically adjusting and pretty forgiving - Ordered 8 new Hydro lifters from DAD today.
2) Is replacing one rocker arm a good idea? or should all of them be replaced at the same time?
I had not been expecting to run into this, I'm sure nobody ever does, but I am in unfamiliar territory and could use some guidance on how to proceed.
Thanks for bearing with me!

TBI! TBI! TBI!

Those are beauties.
GLWS - shouldn't need it hah.

I'd be interested in the entire manifold. PM'd

Sorry to hear about your car man.
Is that TEP's 2.5" DP? If it is id like to be first in line. How much?
-
I would be very interested in the battery hold down if you are looking to sell it.
-
-
By the way, it says that you are unable to receive any PM's at the moment.
- Just a heads up -
-
also interested in the TEP DP - next in line if it falls through with JLOPEZ

Haha what was this picture taken with? a phone or a potato?
Anyways - If it gets off of the ground i would LOVE to get my hands on one. Put me on the list!

Finished transaction, relay on its way - no longer need one. Thanks everyone!

Will do, I'll keep you posted! Thanks!

Such Conquest
Many boost
Much turbo
wow
Haha this guy knows his memes!

Appreciate the offer skullz! Very generous of you. I'm already settling up with a member here though.
It's a PITA to get out if its connected to the wiring harness hah. If its just mounted to the pillar, and you have a sideways ratcheting screwdriver, may be able to get it out without much fuss.

If the contacts just need cleaning they are easy to open up and service. Might be better than replacing with a 25+ year old one about to experience the same issue.
Scott87star, maybe I read that too quickly and did not understand exactly what you were trying to get across... I apologize if I seemed oblivious.
I was merely referring to the outermost fingers of the relay contacts being clean.
Are you suggesting that there is a sound way of opening up the relay and repairing it?
-
I may have one. Why do you think yours needs replaced?
Well that is the start of a long story and I do not want to leave out any details if you truly want to listen. I feel as if it would not belong in the "for sale" forum and belong in a different one.
