  1. If you still have the 2.5 downpipe, will it bolt onto the stock Turbo? If so, price shipped to 19002, I can have the money to you later today
  2. Well the E3s were on sale and the only plugs they had in stock for the quest, but the pump is relatively loud, the more I think about it probably clogged fuel lines... the filter is new up front, and from the tank doesn't look bad. But I haven't actually checked the lines themselves.
  3. I was thinking that as well, and I'm sure having a battery that doesn't hold a charge for more than a couple days isn't helping. Well it cannot be a clogged Cat, because I don't have any exhaust on it from the turbo back (just took it off). Fuel pump isn't bad second one, runs fine. Brand new E3 spark plugs just changed. Brand new Fram Air filter. I replaced the MAS, ECU, Knock Box because once I do get the car running right I'll have that stuff already upgraded.
  4. I can hear the fuel pump run from the driver's seat since it has a very distinct whine while running. The cut out happens anywhere from 5k when the engine is still cold and just started, to 1.5k after its been running and warm then it'll cut itself out.
  5. I still cannot figure out what this problem is, I have swapped my ECU and Knock Box to one from an 88, swapped my MAF to a 1G, right now I have the exhaust completely off to check the first cat seeing if it was clogged and it'll run, but same problem as before. I have the fuel pump connected to the stock wires.
  6. That may have just been my camera, the car sounds good in person, just putts out when the fuel stops flowing. Could it be something in the ignition system? I doubt the coil, because that would probably just stop it from running altogether, but what else could be possible?
  7. The only wires that he added was a power cable that ran from the battery straight to the relay and an extra ground cable, it still has the stock wires from the original pump. I believe that the pump isn't running because when the car is started it has a whine to it that you can hear clearly from inside the car, when you rev it up slowly you can still hear this whine. But when you just press the pedal down the whine disappears and comes back a couple seconds later. The reason I can hear this is because I have not actually had a chance to drive this car anymore than around the block since I have bought it. I know that it's not the spark plugs or wires they're brand new, also wired brand new injector clips after doing these 2 items the car ran better, but still not right. I checked in the distributor, looks brand new (confirmed with previous owner that he replaced the cap and rotor in attempt to remedy the problem). How can I check the vacuum advance, or the governor plate? I have been replacing the filters as I get them, they don't seem bad overall. I am hoping its not a bad head gasket, as of right now I have no reason to believe it is, although it wouldn't surprise me. EDIT: Would it be a feasible option to try another ECU, as I do have an extra anyway o.O
  8. Alright, so I haven't started the car in ~2 days and when I did a couple of minutes ago as soon as I give it any kind of gas the fuel pump shuts off causing the engine to stutter and stall. It does the same with the MAF unplugged, although it'll run a few seconds longer. I haven't had a chance to get to a yard yet to find a new MAF.
  9. Yeah I was reading the 1g MAF upgrade forum, I'll make sure its from a turbo, Thanks Jimmy. Just got to hope that they have something at the yard.
  10. It is still a stock MAF, I was thinking about grabbing a 1G MAF from a junkyard and upgrading to that.
  11. Alright so I took a video to see if this might help since I am horrible at explanations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf27J8H0Ltc I really hope this helps as I am now lost, I put my Walbro 255 on and I thought it was running better, but it just took longer to get this problem.
  12. Yeah I thought the same, but then when I tried ordering it they sent me a part that doesn't go to my car. The map sensor is built into the maf isn't it? aka the brick in the intake.
  13. Yeah, the car is stock (except for the fuel pump). The reason its so confusing for me is that the fuel pump runs fine, and then once it goes over a certain amount of throttle the pump cuts out for a couple of seconds then turns back on. The guy who had it before me put the pump thats on there now (it also looked l like they added a 5 point relay at the pump). I did buy a new pump, would I have any problem using a Walbro 255lph on an otherwise stock car?
  14. I am not sure why it does it, but if I ease onto the gas it runs like it should, then once I get the gas pedal to ~3/4 I hear the fuel pump cut out. This normally happens after the car has been warmed up. Then once the cars been running for about 5 minutes trying to give it any gas causes it to stutter, like its not getting in there. I recently replaced the spark plugs, wires, injector connectors, and took the fuel pump off and reinstalled. When I took the fuel pump off some chunk of metal fell out, I was thinking that could be part of the problem, somethings blocking the pump from getting enough gas. P.S. would it be possible to attach another fuel filter before the pump?
  15. I was going off of what the installation instructions for the pump say, I did read that section. I know OEM is above tank, but I wasn't sure since I don't know if that pump is correct.
  16. @DSM Ordered one of those with the clips, and a thermostat so just waiting on shipping. @FRO Yeah thats what we have been thinking. Fuel pump is new, but it whines like crazy. It is supposed to be mounted under the tank, but the previous owner mounted it on top of the tank. He said the front filter was changed. Its some "Trickster EFI Fuel pump" I saw that and thought it was weird, He also ran a seperate wire from the battery terminal straight back to the pump. And the car always smells like gas fumes.
  17. Yeah I did, unplugged the secondary only revved to 3k. Plugged it back in and I could get it up to 5k, but if I hold down all the way starts to cut out still.
  18. Well neither of my injector clips are clipping on... I ordered new ones, just waiting for them (should be here tomorrow). I can get it all the way up to redline sometimes, but usually not more than once or twice. I guess the clip could be coming loose. I can't wait to get this car running.
  19. So I just bought a conquest, overall a decent car. But when I give it full throttle the car just bogs down about to stall then putts itself back up to 1k, but no higher. I have no idea what the problem is, at first it sounded like it was misfiring so I went and got new plugs and wires since #2 cylinder wasn't sparking. Plugs were burnt to a crisp, and wires were shot. Now shes running better, but still bogs down at full throttle. (Also the boost gauge doesn't go above 0 until its at high throttle when it starts to bog. Don't know if this has anything to do with it.) ~Thanks Matt
  20. We brought her home today, after having to deal with U-hauls bs made it back and she looks at home in my driveway. It seems like we were wrong with the clips or MAPS, put premium gas in poured sea foam into the gas tank, oil, and intake. After that the car seems to run decent for a little bit, only up to like 3k, then once it gets a little warm the the fuel pump (which is a new high flow aftermarket, from the previous owner) seems to struggle, and makes very loud whining noise and the engine begins cutting out. I did order both new clips and MAPS, so it doesn't really matter. probably going to need new ones anyway. It made me think. My old car was a 1989 TBI Pontiac Lemans... it would run good for a bit, and then cut out after it warmed up. I replaced the fuel filter and it began running fine again. It could be the fuel filters? I am not completely sure. Where are the fuel filters on Conquests, it is very likely that only the in-tank has been changed.
  21. Hey I there, I just bought my Conquest and have reason to believe I need either a MAP sensor, or new injector clips (Thanks Robert). The pigtails on the injectors are more so just sitting there, they won't clip onto the injectors. So anyway my question is: Are these the correct injector clips/pigtails for an 87 Conquest? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Dorman-Conduct-Tite-2-Wire-Bosh-fuel-injector-repair-pigtail/_/N-269a?itemIdentifier=18624_0_0_ I think it looks like those, the reason I don't know is I have to go pick up the car tomorrow, and don't remember what they looked like.
  22. Well the car will rev as high as it can, but then its not getting enough fuel so it cuts out (Kind of like having a choke on a small engine). It's probably either the injector clips (since neither is clipping on all the way) or a MAPS. Edit: Atleast thats what I am hoping.
