yeah im going to get the new battery connector thing tomorow. idk what its called but yeah. i feel dumb asking this, but how do i check the relays?

Soo i bought an 89 conquest tsi yesterday. When i bought it, the blinkers worked fine. but now, they dont work at all. ive checked the fuses, and none of them are blown. i need to get a new battery connector thing cus mine is tightend down all the way, but its still loose. anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? im pretty much clueless. ive never owned one of these cars, so idk what to look for. any help is much appreciated.
