  1. Ok fellas,

    I have a question about possible replacement injectors. The parts car I puchased a couple years ago had some work done to it previous to me buying it that the owner was telling me about. Recently I was cleaning some parts up and found the injectors that came out of that car. I looked at them and found they were both black in color. At first I thought are these 2 primairy injectors? Then I saw they each have different markings on them, One has a symbol followed by H-6 and the other also has the symbol followed by Hz-01. I will attempt to post pictures soon but figured I would just throw it out here. If anyone has any info on this before I have a chance to post pictures let me know! Thanks in advance!

  2. It's been a while since I have been on here, it'e been a busy past year with work and I got married and all of that great stuff! It'll be one year next Saturday! Anyways enough about me and to the point. I removed the engine from the quest in November of 12' with the best intentions to freshin it up. That plan went south and I ended up with another engine so I am getting to that. Today I drove out to Niles from Akron to see Randy at Engine Machine Service and got the rest of the parts I will need to get her going again. I just wanted to say that it was a pleasure to finally meet Randy and his wife at the shop, they couldn't have been any nicer! So again, another thanks to Randy and his services speak for themself. So hopefully I can post again with good news of a running car again soon.

    I have a friend that gave me a garrett turbo charger and I am trying dearly to find out what it came off of and if it could benefit me. I will start with the specifications. The turbine is a T3 housing with an a/r of .36 as far as I can tell. It is kind of hard to see. The turbine wheel is as follows. Inducer 64.4mm (2.5in) and Exducer 45.9mm (1.8in.) The compressor is a to4d I beleive and has an a/r of .50 The wheel is, Inducer 46.5mm (1.83in) Exducer 60.14mm (2.3in) I did some research as to just the size of the compressor wheel and it is the same as a 16g. I cannot figure out what this turbo is off of. I dont think it would be very efficiant on our car because of the very small turbine housing. Haha it would have extremely quick spool but be good for about 3k maybe. Anyways I have another turbo I was thinking about using to combine the compressor of this turbo with the turbine of the other one. The turbine of the other one has an a/r of .63 and the wheel measures Inducer 52.7mm and Exducer 75.4mm. Any thought on what the first turbo could be off of and also thoughts on if that would be a good option?

  4. That is also an old tsb. Not to freak you out. I would check compression when the concern is present. Especially since you have replaced the coil and plugs multiple times. All that is left would be fuel and compression. If both of those rule out than there may be a possible signal loss to the COP. Another easy thing to do if your compression checks out would be to swap the injector with the one adjasent to it. Obviously if the misfire follows than you may have an issue there.

    ISSUE:

     

    The roller finger followers may become dislodged and end up loose in the cylinder head during ambient temperatures of less than -18°C (0°F). This may result in damage to the camshaft, roller finger follower, valve, retainer, valve guide, etc.

    ACTION:

     

    Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

    SERVICE PROCEDURE

     

    1. Check compression of all cylinders.
    2. Remove cam cover from the affected side of the engine which showed low compression readings. Look for a follower that has become dislodged and examine all components for damage (i.e., camshaft, valve, follower, etc.).
      • If damage is found, contact the engine plant Hotline at the numbers listed in this article.
      • If no damage is found, remove all followers from the engine (both sides) and compare to Figure 1 to determine their revision level.

  6. I'm a Ford Tech in Akron man. I have had those older 5.4 engines have fuel injector problems. I will run the year and model on my ford site since I dont have a VIN to specify the model to see if there are any TSB's. As far as I can remember I though there was some sort of message abouth the injectors. I would not beleive it would be an egr issue because it is a specfic cylinder.
  7. Hello all,

    I am looking for a 5 bolt wastegate adapter so I can have an internal wastegate with the turbo I have aquired. i have seen these on e-bay with a v-band down pipe flange which is what I am looking for but anything else will do. I also can trade for any oem part needed,so let me know if any of ya'll have this and either if I have anything you need or what you would like for it.

  8. I agree with what these guys are saying. Luckily my trade and the way I make a living is working for a Ford dealership as a Technician. Also I am located in the Akron area and am more than willing to give advise on just about anything that I feel I am able to help with. I've had my Quest for about seven years now and have had a couple small issues with it. But like any other car can be fixed. Send me a message on here and I will be more than happy to help.
