  1. My conquest which i have had no fuel issues in the past has just started to run out of gas when the tank is 1/2 full. I know its half full because it only fills up half it normally would at the gas station so i know the gauge is spot on. my best guess is that the tank has two pickups and one of them has gotten disconnected or clogged. my question is has anybody else had a similar problem? if so how do i go about fixing it? do i have to drop the tank or can i get to it from the access panel in the trunk. any info will help.
  2. No the button won't pop out. I'll keep hitting the off button but the top button won't pop. I have to mash them till if finally works. I'm pretty sure it's the buttons sticking and not the links but I'll check the links anyways. Is there a write up on how to take the buttons apart? They defiantly don't just pop out with a screwdriver.
  3. So my headlight switch is now being very finicky and it takes alot of effort to turn off my headlights. I can turn them on just fine but neither of the other buttons will turn it off righ away. I have to mash them for a few minutes then eventually I will get them down. Is there a way I can take these buttons apart and fix them? If not where is a good place to find new ones. Thanks guys
  4. I second that. Power steering fluid does not meet the pressure requirements that ATF fluid does. Power steering fluid will foam and eventually ruin the system. Immeadatly flush and replace with ATF.
  5. Both the ps pump and the ps gear box were both leaking. It would get to the point that the system was basically dry. Over time this happened alot and i would keep refilling the system with atf fluid. one day (about 3 months ago) i started the car and got no power steering assist (more like HeMan steering). i went to put more fluid in the system and still got no Power Steering. At this point i felt i burnt out the pump running it dry and everything so i bought a rebuild kit and rebuilt it. Still no PS after this. Luckily i had a spare pump in the garage, so i rebuilt and tried that one with still no luck. After all of this i figured it must be the PS gear box and figured it was clogged or just broken. It needed replacement anyways since it did leak. I ordered a new one from K D M and just installed it the other day and still no power steering. here is my story. any ideas guys?
  6. They are brand new rebuilt. The ps box is from *DM and the ps pump from kragen. I also rebuilt a second ps pump and thought I did something wrong so then I bought the kragen with no luck still.

  8. does the power steering have an inline filter? im thinking my lines may be clogged. i just replaced the power steering box and powersteering pump and still have no power steering. any other ideas what could be wrong? anything else i should check?
  9. I just bought a rebuilt power steering box from rock auto to replace my broken one. once i get the old one out i and try to install the new one i realize the new ones shaft where it connects to the steering wheel is way too short and won't connect. what should i do? how can they mess this up? is it from a different year starquest? i don't know if it will even be worth my time sending it back to only maybe get the same one. here is a pic. old one is on the left, new one is on the right. http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp191/anthonychelini/photo.jpg
  10. My power steering box has been leaking so i just bought a rebuilt one and am in the process of installing the new one. Just pulled the old one out from under the engine bay. My question is does it have to be in any certain position when i install it back in. Like do the splines need to be aligned in a certain way. if there is a write up on any of the websites that shows the install that would help a lot too.
  11. i will attempt to air bleed and keep you guys posted
  12. Ah i clicked on the 87 manual and not the 88 manual
  13. I cleaned the old parts of the pump with a ton of brake cleaner so i doubt there is blockage. No i did not bleed the old air out of the lines of the steering box, how would i do this? a new pump is around 130 and a rebuild kit is around 15 bux
  14. nope the lines cannot be mixed up due to one is just a hose with a hose clamp, and one is a hard line
  15. I just rebuilt the PS pump today because the front seal was bad. everything wen smoothly and i got the pump back in the car and all hooked up. Put ATF fluid in it and started it up an no power steering. The belt and pulley are moving, the fluid level changes when i rev it, i even put it on jacks and cycled the steering wheel side to side for 5 min and still no dice. I need Help!
