  1. Can you give me a step by step for disconnecting each side then? Man I didn't know this was going to be so much trouble! I think I understand the driver side..I pop the hood off, and unscrew the gauge cluster and pull it out a bit, and I should be able to see the speaker to disconnect? I wouldn't have the first idea how to get to the passenger side. Thanks, Josh
  2. so I'm guessing since its parrallel that the speaker wires at the harness also feed the door speakers as well as the dash speakers, so I would have to get to each speaker to snip the wires?
  3. I don't care enough to take the whole dash apart to get to those little fools, 4 MB Quart speakers will work just fine for me...just wondering what wires I need to snip on the harness before I plug in the aftermarket harness to my head unit to disable those front dash speakers..Thanks guys..
  4. Hey everyone, Obviously you can get the kit to just use one DIN unit, but is there a kit to use two units on top of each other, or do you think you would need anything to go around it? Just wondering if anyone has seen a kit for a double din unit, obviously there is mounting brackets in the stock areas, but just trying to figure out how to make it look nice looking at it from the front, since the stock unit is all one piece double DIN...Just incase anyone is interested, I have replaced all the interior speakers, ran to a component amp, have a CDplayer with AUX in, for sound input and radio, and a indash dvd player to go in, attached to a 7.2inch screen mounted on the dash next to the instrument cluster dome...will get some pics soon.. Thanks, Josh
  5. Keep looking on ebay trying different key word searches, there were plenty on there a couple weeks ago from 15-60 bucks...so keep trying, they are out there..just gotta wait for a deal.. Josh
  6. correct on the years, yes on the plugs, no on swapping them around, not enough room back there..the wheel controls only control volume and mute when in the cdplayer mode, however tape/radio functions still work..ie seek...keep in mind it wasnt ever setup to do anything with the cdplayer, but havingt he volume and mute is good for me, only thing I really adjust in times I can't look down..cell phone ringing etc...if anyone needs any help let me know. Josh
  7. came out of a first gen. Talon/Eclipse/Laser..the install was simple, took me about 30 minutes and a beer or two...definitley a great mod..cost me 50 bucks on ebay..if you have any more questions post, or email me.. Josh
  8. And the finished product..... http://www.starquestclub.com/index.pl?boar...;num=1049854822 Thanks for the FAQ guys...and for anyone thinking about doing this..check out my pics...works great..props to Jugg and Paul for the directions! Josh NeedAStarQuest
  9. Hey guys, I know some of you are dying to see what these things look like..lol..I know I was too...I dropped one in my Quest in about half an hour..works great..and before you ask..it does play CDr's...Sony branded is all I have..and they work..the wheel controls still work, of course dont function with the cdplayer part, only volume, and mute, do anything..since they weren't specifically for cd players..however all of them function when using the radio part..great modification, cost me 50 bucks on ebay..so it was cheaper than a cdplayer at the store, looks stock to keep up with my mint interior, so I was stoked.. http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/dsmradio2.jpg http://63.251.78.219/Image%20file/dsmradio1.jpg let me know what you think.. Josh
  10. Just giving my thanks to Rich for also supplying me with some parts, its great to see someone who cares about others on this board, and knowing that some people just need little odds and ends..Thanks again, and everyone make sure you pay this guy for the shipping, its only fair, he did us a great service...Thanks again Rich.. Josh
  11. Since you are cutting the relay, how is the power handling been? I know if you rip relays out where they were supposed to be you sometimes burn up the bulbs and wiring..had any problems? Josh
  12. Correct, I have some HID's on another car I drive, and they draw alot less current, my voltage meter would dip with other accessories on if I turned on those heavy draw fake bulbs, now nothing blinks at all with the HID kit...make sure you do run better wire, and also make sure your ground is a good one, sometimes mine wont turn on one side because the ground isn't strong enough I have to wiggle it, so just keep that in consideration..
  13. Look on ebay for Sound Storm Labs speakers, I have front and rears in my other daily driver and they shock even audio install places...they are rock bottom cheap..the 6x9's have a 50 ounce magnent, and handle 600 watts each, no joke, I thought they would sound cheap but I needed something, now I have turned the system into something you would be proud of...give them a try..
