I dont have to do smog, but I definately need to figure something out. I can definately get the old vin from my friend the dash should still be in his basement. But Idk about the reriveting and stuff, Im not very good with things like that.

I am in Illinois as well... Also there are several new and used windshields around here. But I want the state issued route, rather than fiddling with the tag.

How hard is it to swap the vin plate?

Well the thing is that it is a Daily Driver, so it will be parked on the street, and if they try to give me a ticket or run my VIN there will be issues.

I just realized my car that has not been registed has a dash that is not the stock dash, and because of this the VIN is different. What do I go about doing here?

You told me the entire thread is not necessary because two questions came up that could have been answered in the fsm. stop trying to find something to moderate when there isn't any need. I don't need someone telling me that I shouldn't ask questions because the answers are written somewhere in the annals of history. I mean why even go to school by ur logic everything is written in books that u can read urself. Its not necessarily about the answer but more about how we get to the answer various insights that can be given by teachers/members with more knowledge. I'm trying to find out the answer to my question and asking anything that comes up along the way I dont believe there is anything wrong with that. Bottom line you act as if I'm taking time away from something important when I ask a question in the fsm. I mean ur not obligated to answer the question it's a forum just move along. I am not taking someones time who is curing cancer but an individual volunteers it to take the time and inform me. This is why u banned killtodie because he wanted to know how to remove his fender and because hour answer is in the fsm he was banned. I do t think I've ever been a member of a forum where people are banned for asking questions that are on topic. I mean is the time spent answering his fender question time lost that u would use to design a DOHC head? /rant

I know what Factory Service Manual is, I didnt know what FSM is as in the abbreviation.

So a factory service manual will tell me what kind of turbo to go to? LOL.... So im still teetering between the 14g and s16g, is it basically street vs highway/track?

Yeah if no one asked questions there would be no need for this forum. I was hoping for insight and various things people came across in their auto ownership. Its not for you to decide if this thread is necessary, I wanted more info and I decided to ask people who know something. You can come in and keep order amongst people but need to slyly bash me for asking questions. I dont understand why some people have such an attitude that just because they know things, they dont wanna be bothered with answering questions. I honestly dont even know what the FSM is, but I rather have several people tell me and maybe provide different views to their decisions. HAHAHA Same thing happened to me, except I was doing 70, and when I pushed the clutch in the car redlined. But what happened was I hit traffic thats why I needed to turn it off, and I was in the express lane. So i had to keep turning the car on and off and putting it into gear for a bit to get some speed to roll and coasting into other lanes to get to the shoulder. Check the vacuum line for leaks mine had a huge leak.

Now when you refer to a 16g is that the same as a S16G.

Am I the only that thought about how much a pain in the tail its gonna be to get underneath the dash or how would you take the dash off?

This is going on an auto Daily Driver, so I have to worry about dependability and relability which so far has been excellent. I actually busted a coolant leak, filled the radiator up again to locate it, and it was gone. After that the car stopped eating coolant, marvelous. I do want good MPGs but i want to gain some FPGs (Fun Per Gallon)

Band adjustments? I mean I should be good the trans was rebuilt by a member on here.

The plan is to get turbo, then tune later with the HKS products and a MAFT. Im not trying to go for crazy numbers out the gate.

No Ive had both, currently on a starion has a stupid misfire that wont go away, just moves higher up on the RPM scale.

I feel like all conquest have 1 major gremlin that you spend the entire ownership of the car trying to find.

Some just didnt get regular maintenance. Ive had two one a widebody manual and the other a flatty automatic. Mileage was similar 127k vs 148k and they are like night and day. My widebody was so thrashed it was beyond repair. Everytime I fixed something another item went bad. Sometimes I would replace an item and have it go bad a week later like the Master. Some people just keep driving until a car starts acting funny, never putting any preventative maintenance into the car.

The stall speed on mine seems to be around the 2100 mark or so
