  1. when i bought this car, because i wanted one when i was younger, I didnt occur to me that i would constantly be working on something. Having never owned a turbo vehicle before, I really am not that imformed on how they operate. This is an 86 quest, all pretty much stock, and i actually have it to the point where its running pretty good. I have done complete tune up and changed the ignighter and waterpump. It also has a new clutch, intake manifold gasket and a rebuilt throttle body (previous owner). I didnt really notice this before because i hadnt pushed the car at all (car runs great when just driving around normally) when i rev this out it gets right on it to about 4000rpm and then boggs around a little, does not feel at all healthy for the car. the turbo climbs nicely to 7psi, but when its maxed for a second or 2 the car starts to lose. it does not seem that this car has been messed with much. No mods (except for the air can hole). Is this a timing issue or something with the turbo maybe. like i say completely new to turbos. Thanx at all and I cannot say enough good things about this site.
  2. If your not getting spark, this sounds like a fuseable link or the knock box. also possibly the ecu itself. If ecu is popped the fuel pump wont stay on. Or it could just be the control relay. Had similar problem lately. ended up being the knock box.
  3. that wire looks really ratty. can i just crimp the bad part or does it need replaced. thanks
  4. What is the wire coming off the top of the turbo? Also the little hose coming from the water pump to the turbo dosent seem like there's any or very little coolant running through it. thanks.
  5. lots of times you can get them at the goodwill. for a while ollies was selling them . yes what you hear when its clicking is probably the deck jumping sides. all the ones i fixed did that exact same thing. these decks are fairly loud mechanicly even when there working.
  6. hey thanks to everyone for there help. It honestly sounds like a tire rubbing, but its not. looked them over real good. It still sounds like its in the steering somewhere. even the slightest movement of the wheel to the left and it make the sound. think I get a wheel alignment and see what that does. probably something in the rack somewhere.idk
  7. Hey iv been messing around w/ these decks and I've fixed a couple of them by putting the head cleaner in for a few minutes and just letting it go. Sometimes you also have to hit the play button repeatedly during this process. But I've got 3 of them working w/ this method.
  8. Black. I have the side pieces, just need the small piece In the middle. Thanks
  9. Need washer Fluid cap and piece of interior directly below the steering wheel, thanx.
  10. Have a rubbing sound most of the time when iturn the wheel to the left. Do these cars have a steering box? If not I quess that's my rack making the noise. Probably not a good thing. Also steering wheel is turned far left when driving straight. Thanks for any help.
  11. I've had 3 factory stereos. They all do the exact same thing, jump sides on tape. Run head cleaner for 3 min., fixed every one' Another piece of the puzzle down. Lew
  12. Hey thanks for all your help. Looking for ramps. I've come to terms w/ the fact I will always be working on this car. Conquest survival guide: 1 service manual 1 100? Piece tool kit 1 12 volt tester throw it All in the hatch!
  13. ok, leak getting worse rapidly. Lots of drippage now. took her for a couple mile spin and leak x2! really starting to think waterpump.
  14. yea, I thought that maybe too. It has a new intake manifold gasket(previous owner) and the thermostat looks really clean. Its getting out somewhere though. Ill clean it up though and see if i can see anything. Thanks.
  15. Ok, coolant dripping from right side of motor, front sway bar, and everything else near there. Dripping a pretty good clip from below but cant find much any where else. Thought the water pump, but I see it on right of the engine( a slow drip). Any help greatly appreciated.
