  1. Mine are shot. Can anyone help?
  2. Send me pics and prices. Looking for one asap. Engine will be back in the car in a week or so and if I can get this done at the same time it would be ideal
  3. cmon now, SOMEONE has to have one!
  4. The plastic piece in the pic around the radio is cracked and broken. If anyone has one i can buy PM plz!
  5. well i ran this thread past the shop doing the work and they assured me in terms i dont fully understand that they measure the appropriate way to ensure proper fit and function. Right now im looking for advice on: a bigger fuel pump (if neccessary to run 20lbs of boost) a 16g turbo (as suggested to achieve 20lbs) and where to get one advice on whether or not there is an advantage on getting an aftermarket cam (and where to get one) and how to bypass the 10lb cutoff ive read about. (bov?)
  6. just talked to the guy ordering up the pistons. he did a little better on the price for me which was great and confirmed they are wiseco k555m92's. as far as condition if you cared to look i have a whole thread posted in VIRTUAL MECHANIC under "about to have engine apart" i have an aweful lot of info about the condition the car was in when i got it. but basicly i drove it back from georgia but noticed quite a few problems that i am now remeding. Here's a link to my original post with all the problems and advice i was given http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=101626
  7. what other stuff? like i would imagine i would need different injectors, bigger fuel pump, etc. maybe not, like i said i dont know. i dont mind reaiding but frankly a lot of this stuff is far over my head i dont know what im reading or if it even pertains to what im doing. thats why im asking you guys. get some advice and hopefully get it dumbed down so a beginner like me can understand it. DAD: are you saying i should call the shop back up and specifically request K555M92 or K555M925?
  8. just called and made the switch to the wiseco's. you guys are going to kill me
  9. ok fine but thats pistons, what about other stuff
  10. its been suggested by some long standing members here that the stock pistons (especially since mine will be new) are good for about 25-30lbs. are you guys saying thats not really the case? im not looking to go more than 20 or so, so i thought the stock ones would be ok. i dont want to spend the money if i dont have to but i want to do it right to.
  11. Ok bigger fuel pump, reconsider wiseco's. Figure out a way around cutoff, any suggestions there? And waht does 16g mean and where does a guy get one?
  12. pretty much as the description says. my trim piece that goes around the radio is cracked and ugly. so if anyone has one in good condtion id like to buy it from you. if you need a better description let me know but im pretty sure im not the first to have this problem. i would imagine this piece cracks frequently when people go to install new cd players or whatever and they pull on this piece and its thin and just cracks.
  13. Ok so im not even going to pretend like i'm any kind of knowledgeable on a lot of this stuff. I had the engine completely tore apart and am having it rebuilt over the next week or two. The block was hot-tanked a few days ago and im now in the process of collecting everything i need to put it back together again. Based on other threads i have posted i had decided to keep the stock pistons until the shop that was pressing the pistons off the rods called me up and said something about the pins blah blah blah, what it boils down to is my pistons are shot. So i gave them the go ahead on ordering stock replacement pistons .20 over. OR i could have gotten Wiseco forged pistons for about 600. its probably not to late to change that if the concensus is that the wisecos were the way to go. but im looking at cost to in all this. Anyway, im looking for advice on whether or not to keep my stock cam or get a recommendation on a good aftermarket one. What i really want is to put a bigger turbo in the car, nothing massive, but i want to see a significant increase in performance. So pretend your talking to a noob (which i am) and boil some stuff down for me and recommend what i need to do to put a bigger turbo in the car and have it be solid. Oh, and i dont really know one turbo from another (t3??? 16g???). All i know is if the car boosted 10lbs before id like to hit 20 or so if thats reasonable.
  14. ah crap, after taking INDIANA's advice i decided to just clean up my stock pistons and reuse them. but the shop that is pressing off the rods called and apparently something about the pin caused damage to the piston bad enough they cant be re-used. Not sure exactly what happnened. So awesome. Now i have to decide between $300 for stock pistons or $600 for Wiseco forged pistons. Thoughts?
  15. Thanks coldscrip but thats what im planning on doing. Did you see my post listing all the parts and machining im doing? Add to that all new gaskets seals and bearing and i should be in good shape.
  16. No coolant pits. Having the block resurfaced. Also having the engine balanced. There were no balance shafts. I'm just largely concerned about the pistons/rings not so much as-is but for if I up the boost. I only want to tear apart this motor once so if I up the boost and fry the rings and have to do this all over again that would be the worst
  17. ok well right now my big debate is do i put in the wiseco pistons with matching rings? or do i clean up the existing pistons and re-ring them? keeping in mind i do plan on upping the boost a bit. nothing crazy, thinking 20lbs or maybe a little less.
  18. Ok so I had the parts looked at and thank god my block is still good. However my crank is screwed, 298 for that apparently. This what I'm looking at: Hot tank 65 Bore and hone 120 Line hone 150 Deck block 70 Balance crank 120 Pistons (forged) 598 Crank kit 298 Arp bolts ??? Recondition rods 80 PLUS a new clutch (need recommendation) And possibly new cam Also Indiana, would it be possible to get you on the phone for few minutes? I would really appreciate it. If that would be ok shoot me a pm and my blackberry will get it right away.
  19. Yes its a widebody. Yes it appeared to have a new clutch. Stating that it has a new clutch and "an upgraded turbo from mitsubishi" is about all the history I was given though unfortunately. I sure hope I don't have to buy a new crank.
  20. So the engines apart. Looks like the center main bearing is scored pretty bad. Really concerned about the crank now. Is this a common problem or should I get a line bore? The rest looks pretty good for now. No balance shafts in place. Crank has slight grooving. I can take pics. Let me know BTW the posts that don't say DELO are sent from my blackberry
  21. sure am. pm me and we will see if we can make something work
  22. The clutch is solid. I'm not opposed to replacing it but I question the need. Indiana: I posted the link to the pistons I was looking at. You think the price is high but otherwise how do they look to you? And you didn't mention the cam. I'm probably doing that for sure unless you guys say its a terrible idea
  23. okay, so the engine/trans is out of the car. The current plan is: new pistons (http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/performanceparts/Chrysler/Conquest/Engine/Pistons) new cam and lifters (www.autopartswarehouse.com) timging chain set (www.autopartswarehouse.com) head gasket set with bolts (www.autopartswarehouse.com) so if i can get some advice on where to go (or any other recommendations) it would be a big help
  24. Sorry it took so long to get this posted. I talked to the Mitsubishi dealership that did the checking on the engine. They said that it was supposed to be around 130 psi and cyclinder 1 was around 95 psi. I might sound paranoid here, but when i went in to get the car looked at the guy totally tried to bounce me to the chrysler dealership. i had to convince him that yes the car is a mitsubishi and therefore i was at the right place. i think he just didnt want to deal with it. well when i called to inquire about the compression numbers they found, i think it was the same guy and (here comes the paranoid part) it seemd like he was thinking "oh great this guy again". he told me what the number was but kept saying things like "i think it was around" and "that was about right". anyway, i only mention it because if you read this and think wt.... is he talking about, then theres a good chance i got some bad info from the dealership. But as it stands thats what they reported to me. 95 psi in cylinder 1. So, Sunday is the big day. Any info i have before then is going to go a long way.
