  1. Wish I could make it down from KC but I believe the wife already has 100 plans for that weekend. Maybe I can make it down for Sunday at least, will have to do some sweet talking.
  2. If anyone has a third, I need one too!
  3. These people must have some major hookups to be getting these cars stateside. It's been awhile since I looked in to doing this, but it's ridiculous how cheap used cars in Japan are, and of course the coolness factor of so many of them that were never imported. Japan Partner seems fairly legit (most of the other Japanese export sites seem way too good to be true). Most of the places will not ship to the US, have to go through another country to get it in to the US, then switch VINs, or know someone high up at a DMV I guess. I regularly drool over the oldschool STIs and EVOs they have. They make it way too hard to do this, ha.
  4. Luna, thanks for the phone call...Daniel, I am going to get some stuff taken off for Luna on Friday, I will get the ETACs out too and get you some pics/info on Friday if you are still interested.
  5. Okay, guess she starts getting taken apart Friday!
  6. I only have some rudimentary pics of the car right now as it is sitting at my parents an hour and a half way. They are near Topeka, KS, and I live in Kansas City. I bought it because it had an '83 hood (which is already off and on my '88) and I may take out the components needed to do a digital dash conversion before I sell it. Other than that the car has some very usable parts. The interior is pretty well shot all around though, wouldn't even consider that. Just about everything has a crack or tear or chip somewhere. Both fenders are very straight with very little surface rust, underside of the car is in decent shape, rear quarters in good shape. Car really has very little rust on it for what it is, and sitting in a field for 10 years. It has no title or keys, and the steering column is pretty well gone, but we can turn the wheels now, ha. Everything is there engine wise, no clue what works and what doesn't though. Cowbell wheels are in pretty good shape, will have to check them better when I get out there next. Both tail lights seem to be almost perfect, half tempted to swap them with my Conquest's as they have a couple minor imperfections. If anyone is interested, I basically want to get out of the car what I paid, $400 (not interested in offers either cause I'm sure I can do better than that parting it). If there is no interest, I will start parting it out. Would just rather someone save the me the time and trouble, and maybe do something a little better with the car than strip it and send it to the crusher. I have not thoroughly inspected the car, and will take better pictures in a week or two as I will be out of town this week, then I have to get out there. If you're interested in better pics or more info, let me know on here, or you can give me a call at 913-620-8808. Thanks. 7. Datsun 240Z, have a variety of turbo engine options and transmissions etc. with all the later Z models. Or go all out and do an SR20 or RB25, RB26 skyline engine. IMHO one of the best looking classics there is, with a lot of potential. I also had a nice Porsche 914 that I bought to do a 911 swap in, that car was amazingly fun with the stock 90hp. Those are kind of odd little cars that you don't see everyday, and with the flared fenders and a little HP, you have a sweet little go-cart.
  8. Good eye on the header panel Mike. I was looking at parts I wanted and the header panel I wanted so I could experiment with ducts. I looked at where they meet the fender and said, wait a minute, ha. You can also barely tell in the pics, but the black grill at one time had chrome paint on the ends of the fins, which is another 83 part, correct? As for the tag on the firewall, you can see in the pic, it doesn't say. And the interior looks a lot better in the pic than it actually is. Pretty much everything has a rip or a crack or a tear, and it smells like a barn. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest15.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest4.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest14.jpg
  9. Wheels will do me no good to keep...if they would fit, I would keep them cause they are so 80s ugly cool. That's why I was mad the digital dash was trashed, wanted that sweetness in my widebody.
  10. Was one of my other original thoughts, but I assume all the fluids would likely need drained (10 year old gas can't be too good for a car can it), and the car is an hour and a half away on my parents farm. I just don't really have a lot of time to mess with it.
  11. I want to first off thank everyone on SQC. I am primarily a lurker and that's mainly because the questions I have, you guys have already answered somewhere on the boards. I am not totally new to SQC, I was a member a long long time ago when I had my first 87 Starion in college, back in 1999. That was my first RWD car, my first turbo, and I've been hooked every since. I have owned TT 300ZXs, a GTI, an old Porsche 914, a couple Alfas, a WRX, and various others here and there, but something in me always wanted another StarQuest. Once I got the okay from the wife, I found a very clean, San Marino car that I bought from Gary (grazel3793) and had it shipped to where I live near Kansas City. I have many plans for the car, and as most people, an '83 hood (was one thing I always wanted for my first car in '99 too) was one of the "must haves" someday. So last week when I was browsing CL, like I think most of us do, I saw an add for an '84 Conquest (which is actually an '85) about three hours from me. Not having much need for a flatty, I almost didn't check it out, but when I did, I saw... http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest9.jpg So I immediately called the owner, who wondered why everyone that called was asking if he'd sell just the hood (who else was it?). It has sat in a field behind their house for 10 years, has no title and no keys, drove when it was parked 10 years ago (supposedly) and forgotten about basically. I figured it might be worth buying the whole car, even if I only kept the hood and parted the rest, asked a few questions, and told him I'd be down in a few days to pick it up. Now obviously the hood is all mine, don't even look at it in the pics, ha, but what else is usable/desireable? There are a lot of good body parts, with the exception of the passenger door and right behind it, everything else is very straight, and fairly rust free. The rear taillights are almost perfect, no cracks or moisture, has both front mudflaps in good shape, only one turbo handle, and all four wheels look pretty good. Engine looks to be all there, and no signs of dismantling, fire, or anything else crazy. Interior is pretty well shot as the drivers window has been gone for who knows how long, but it does have manual belts. Digital dash looks pretty trashed and is cracked, but I may keep that just to mess with. I don't know what color it is, tried searching around for that, but not a whole lot of flatty pics on here to compare. I also can't find a manufacturers plate that states the color, as the one on the firewall only has the model and engine info. I am sure someone on here knows, or can point me to where it is on the car. I plan on either parting the car out, or selling it to someone that wants a flatty parts car/track car. I know I shouldn't part it, but again, no keys and no title, hasn't run in 10 years, and who in or near Kansas wants this car? If someone wants the entire car, I'd be happy to sell it to them as it'll be much less work. If not, I will start taking parts off in a week or two to put up for sale as I'm sure there are a few things that I could salvage that people will want. I will get some better pictures up in the near future, especially if someone is interested in the whole car. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest8.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest7.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest10.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest11.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest3.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d91/tater25rs/Conquest/85%20Technica/Quest1.jpg
  12. If you do not sell this before Branson, and I'm able to make it down, this baby will be mine!
  13. I know you made some road trips, but it'll be like 8 hours round trip in less than 24 hours, I haven't gotten to drive the car but a total of probably 2 hours since I've gotten it. Just kinda scary, ha.
  14. I really want to make the meet, or what I can of it. I can't take off work, and I would have to drive down Saturday night from Kansas City, guess I could meet everyone at the drive-in. I have only had the car a month or so, have yet to drive it much, so I need to make sure it's even gonna make it first. My main question though is, are a lot of people heading home on Sunday morning, or are most people going to make the run to Eureka Springs?
  15. Can you send pics of dual gauge pod to tatertsi@yahoo.com? I assume this is the type that will work with auto seatbelts? Where are you located also?
  16. That is exactly my first car, same color, year, everything. I always loved my XT cause it was so unique. I even bought an XT6 after that car, unfortunately I had too much fun with the weak auto tranny and did a good number on it after a couple years. Wish I had some pics to share as my XT6 was a super nice car, had rear window louvers too, don't know that I have ever seen another with them. You need to get the turbo XT hood with the scoop, but that's probably not the easiest part to find, ha. Keep the pics coming.
