Hi Bill, I did check them as well, I looked at the transmission mounts too, there new but I was thinking I could have ripped one. Im puzzled by this the motor runs really strong but it just has this annoying vibration in that RPM range, I did leave out one thing I have removed the balance shafts when I re ringed the motor, But this seems to have just started in the last week or so.

Ok so I checked the harmonic balancer and it seems to be a solid unit. I drove it this morning in the RPM range and is not as bad from when its off a load in the drive way. The truck pulls really good and seems to run very smooth down the road and one the freeway, the oil pressure is good also. I did notice its seems to come from the top of the engine ill check tonight and see if somthing might have come loose?

Hi there Indiana, My Montero is a 4 speed Auto, its a preety good vibtation you can feel it on the intake when you rev at the Rpms I was talking about. I will check to see if the harmonic balancer is solid or not. If I remember right it was but its been a while. If it is else should I look for?

I have a moderate vibration only between 1100-1800rpm then smooths out after 1800rpm. Seems to be more noticeable in neutrel when i slightly rev the engine. My question is, if the harmonic balancer was going out, would the vibration always be there and just get worse with rpm?

OH man it is so much fun to drive these trucks around but in a way im glad they didnt because it makes my rig that much more unique.

I will have to say im disappointed in the quality with these taylor wires and will never get another set again. As for the new set I will go back to stock. I really like this site you guys are very noligable to say the least Thank you.

OK so after I did everything possible I found the major problem, I was on my way home from a sidejob and my motor was cutting out real bad, well when I got home it was dark and I popped the hood and started looking around. I didnt see anything until my coil wire started glowing and sending tracers down the wire!! I could not believe what I was seeing, the wire set is maybe 3 months old and made by taylor which are good wires. Also I could see the #3 cyl was doing it too, so I found my old set of wires replaced the two and went for a test drive and wala fixed the cut out. I still do not know how this was happening and would like to find out. Im going to send Talor wires a email and see if I can get a new set. I wanna thank you guys for trying to sort out my problem, For now if your ride is cutting out check your plug wires even if they are new!

Im running the stock MAF only real mods is 2.5 turbo back everything elts is pretty much stock.

Did you need a knock box? possible trade?

I checked all the connections the guys were telling me about and after cleaning all grounds and testing them I had the same result. The vacuume advance has not been change at all, I did clean the dizz before I put the motor back in do to a broken ring gland. Anyway that will be my next try. Where would I pick one of these up they seem hard to find. Im thinking of swapping ECU'S to see what happens as well. Thanks for your time..

So im thinking now it maybe the fuel pump or clogged filter, is there a good way to test the pump? I will go and get a filter after work and replace it as well. As for all the wires distributor and pugs they look good. Nice even tan color on all plugs.

Oh i need to change that I switched back to stock for more low end. The plugs and wires look good. As for when it does it somtimes mid to full throttle, Starts and runs fine too.
