  1. I Bought it, but looks like wally wants back in the game? looking for another quest?

    Dad

oh cool, at least it went to a good place. my phone and internet have been messed up so i missed out on another quest :( need to find the front clip for one stat.

  2. I can buy a 14b DSM turbo for 75.00 complete all housings , lines , etc. It has been rebuilt a couple thousand miles ago. Would this be a better start and put a 16g wheel on it and have it balanced ?

my dsm friends have been bugin me to put a 16g on my quest as well, i have two 14b's siting at my place though, along the same lines of the original topic, what kind of performance/increased engine load am i looking at with a 14b(tdo5h) vs a 12a, and vs a 16g?

i don't want to put too much load on the hotside of the engine, and i want to autocross, but they seem so convinced a 16g is the answer lol, any opinions?

  3. One of the locks is probably sticking. On my car it was the pass side lock since it doesn't get used as much it was hard to slide back and forth. When you go to open the door the power actuator would try and open the lock and you'd see it move a little then the doors would lock back.

I just took the door panel off and sprayed some food grade silicon on the rods and it was fine. I used food grade silicon by CRC (Green Lable can) because it is completely petroleum free and wont harm plastic, rubber or any of the moldings.

not to mention that petroleum causes fish eyes in fresh paint. fck that.

  4. said you were lookin for a v8, are you interested in a 85 trans am in clean condition along with a 1987 GTA parts car? i swapped in a fresh 350 tpi this summer (<20kmi./2yrs old) it runs tip top and is rust free. parts car gives you everything you need to have a GTA clone including a set of GTA rims that usually go for bout 500. car has t-tops;) it ran a 14.1 @100 this summer on bald tires, would be a mid to low 13 sec car with headers and traction(it has brand new 245/50/16 falken 502'S). let me know.
  5. Heres the deal I had a friend who was into drag racing, so he gutted his Trans-Am. Did all he could to make it as light as possible. But he couldn't get into the 9's for nothing. He thought more power more power. But no extra scratch to get it done. I told him heres a free solution lose a 100lbs and he will get in the 9's and be healthy to boot. He weighed almost 300lbs and was 5'9.. He was pissed to say the least. Eventually I heard he broke his hand and couldn't race his younger and much lighter bro drove and got into the 9's no issues. To this day he says it was begineers luck.

Why is it so many racers in any sport refuse to check themselves when it comes to power to weight?

i'm 6'3ish and 135, guess that helps?? it's the only sport that lets you sit most of the time,, of course the big guys love it.

  6. I want 5500 firm, its a beatufiul car and has been tastefully redone, the interior is beautiful and your going to save money with all the parts i have replaced on it.

out of interest in your work and the car could you post pictures?? or send them to an email?? let me know i'd like to see what an enthusiastic owner can do.

  7. never had a problem with this lol, all my gf's know up front what my issue is. where i'm from there's a lot of david's so we invariably end up with niknames, mine's been firebird dave, GTA dave, fast dave, and now it's quick dave for good, if they can't figure it out, then good riddance!

many have said it and i agree, the right girl will like that you bust your butt for your ladies.

  8. CT-26 turbos on them Supras are garbage, but other than that they're pretty good cars, heavy, a little ugly stock, but good stuff... But nothing like a StarQuest....

the quest is a car to be enjoyed and occasionally go out and spank the unsuspecting, who are many, i had a problem with my t/a, because the only people that wanted to race were people that could smoke me, corvettes, newer f-body's and very unstock imports. everyone else shy'd away an so, i never got to race my car, just drive like an a-hole and piss people off.

in the quest i can whip through traffic before people even saw me, ricers want a piece( and so far have been left behind) simply because they see a half faded "TSi", older guys leather neck to see my car, i literally caught someone snapping photo's at a light last night, the local dsm herd loves me, it's a very unique experience to own one.

and so far from what i've read, which is alot, quests have no particularly stupid problems that can't be worked or driven around. they just need to be respected and given care while driving them.

  9. Just remember after you warm up your engine you should still ease into driving it no hammer down stuff as your diff and trans are still ice cold. Years back when I lived in Cleveland I worked at 2am so I let my 74 z28 warm up the engine ran great in the cold, so I floored it and snapped a tooth on my posi. The shop that built my 12bolt told me ease it in any car. Have done this ever since no issues. Here in Hawaii not an issue it was 77 today brrrrrr. :cold:

you suck, i'm still in cleveland.

  10. how much warm up and for that matter cool down time do you need to give a car in general, and how warm should a car be before spirited drving?

i've been trying to take good care of my engine by not getting on it till it's nice and warm, and trying to drive it real easy for the last 3/4mi. or so before i get home, just wondering what the consensus is on this topic.

turbo aluminum head engine is very diferent fom a cast iron v8:)

  11. my opinion is that our approach to machines, is much different from our approach to cars, which are just machines, really. and i beleive that our approach to cars is very similar to our approach to other humans, which is to say, we listen to them to receive input, we have to "take care" of them for them to "treat us right", they "respond" to our wants from the driver seat, and they reward us for our efforts towards them (sometimes). It's an experience for all the senses to drive a car, unlike any other machine.

also cars all do behave different from each other, so they are almost, in a way, as individual as us.

not hard for humans who like to give life to things, to assign a personality to a car though none exists, hell all my cars have names :sweatingitout:
