can anyone tell me why the fans would run with the car off? went outside the other day and heard one running so i disconected it. thanks

my boost gauge hasn't worked since i got the car. it goes to 0 but stays there at all times. i changed the boost sensor and that didn't do anything. does anyone know where and at what values to shoot for power coming from and or going to the boost gauge. it doesn't bother me that it doesn't work because i have an aftermarket gauge, but i'd would like to verify that the ecu is getting the proper info that it needs from the boost sensor. it's an 86 and any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!

so i got a new tps and was putting it on and went to start the car and nothing happened...i mean nothing. no buzzer no dash lights no gauges only thing that happens is the radiator fan on the right turns very slowly for about 15 seconds an then stops. i check the battery and have 12-13 volts and shot the fuse links and they shoot good. any other ideas? thanks randy

well after some problems with my 86 im beginning to wonder if it would just be in my best interest to swap over to a later model ecu. has anyone done this and had good results or was it alot of trouble? what all would i need...i know i would need the ecu harness and later model injectors....is there anything else? thanks much

well when i got the car the boost gauge wasnt working. it will go to zero but thats it. it just stays there. so started reading up on the stuff and while looking through the engine bay i found the boost sensor vac nipple was broken off and no vac line hooked to it. so someone told me a way to try and fix it. take a nipple from another sensor not being used and epoxy it on. so i did that yesterday and still not working. i have a after market gauge to show boost but i'm afraid to drive it cuz i'm sure that without a proper boost reading from the sensor the motor is not running at it's peak performance and i don't want to damage the motor. as far as the tps. did a sweep test and it failed. thanks for the help!!!

so my boost gauge hasn't worked since i got the car so i put in an aftermarket one to show me boost. during some troubleshooting i found the nipple on the boost sensor broken off. i'm curious if this isn't hooked to the vaccum line and not sending the ecu info about boost will it degrade the performance. i would think that the signal that the boost sensor sends to the ecu would effect how much fuel it would inject depending on where the boost was. please correct me on that if i'm totally wrong. basically i'm just curious if i leave it unhooked will it degrade my performance. thanks!!!

so i found the TB leaking today and so just to see i checked the oil to see how much water had gotten into the motor. well it's quite a bit. any tips on how to clean the motor of the water that got in it? the gasket on the TB is changed now so hopefully i shouldn't have the problem anymore. any help on getting the water out would be greatly appreciated. thanks

thanks this helps alot. what about the lines for the ovcp, wastgate and i think it's called the pressure sensor. my ovcp has no line attached and the wastegate has one that goes to the pressure sensor. i read somewhere that the ovcp should be hooked to the wastegate but i'm not sure. thanks again. randy

i've been searching for a diagram of the vac lines but with no success. all of the links i find either don't work or don't have what i need. i've been reading some of the other forums and learned that some of my vac lines are either in the wrong spot or no there at all. does anyone have a good link for a vac diagram for an 86 quest? it would be much appreciated. these vac lines are the only thing left keeping this quest off of the road. thanks randy

i have an 86 and the vac line that is on my wastegate goes to a small black thing on the left aft wall of the car behind the TB. it has 3 vac lines that hook to it. there is nothing hooked to the ovcp. can anyone shoot me a link to the 86 vac diagram? thanks randy
