  1. Getting the interior back together....
  2. Damn, I'm sure no one else has ever made a dumb mistake before! Thanks for the advice, guys.
  3. Do you have the blower motor/housing, heater core, that sensor with the vacuum connection from the A/C condenser, or ducting for the air vents?
  4. The Sport Handling Package had different bucket seats. They have the square-doughnut head rests and the wings on the sides. If you look at the pictures in the link, you'll see that those seats are just the regular bucket seats from the 87 model year. I could be mistaken about whether SHP was an option then, but the important point is these seats are pretty damn clean for being that old. Also, I will include a SHP bucket seat (driver's side) that has the rails and seat-belt clip intact but is torn up pretty badly for $150 OBO
  5. I have the front seats out of a 87 Starion I bought a couple years ago. They are in pretty decent condition, but the driver's seat is missing the rails and seat belt clip (it was like that when I bought the car). Besides that and a few minor scrapes and creases, these seats are still in good shape despite their age. Here's the link to the CL ad for pics: http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/pts/3500702267.html Thanks!
  6. wow got stiffed on this last paycheck...hopefully I can afford it with this next one. if not, GLWS!
  7. What's the difference between the 88-89 box and the 87 box?
  8. I did some more digging around and followed that fried wire to where it gets spliced onto what I think is the ECI ground. The wire past that looks ok, so could I replace the part of the wire that ends with the eyelet? I assume I should still check everything connected to that ground?
  9. nevermind I found the list of stuff that grounds from that wire (ground #9). GROUND #9 (Body Ground, also tied in with ground 11, apron bolt) Grounds: Electronic Spark Control Igniter: ECI Control Unit: pin # 1 SHEILDED GROUND & # 53 DIRECT GROUND to the ECI Ignition Coil Ground Side (-) SHEILDED GROUND Dist. signal generator: SHIELDED GROUND Detonation sensor: SHIELDED GROUND (found on starquest.i-x.net) Can anyone recommend a good tutorial on using a multi meter to check stuff like this please? I really have no idea how to use mine for anything other than checking continuity!
  10. UPDATE! After digging around a little I found that the ground behind the instrument cluster wasn't getting good ground. I cleaned it up and reconnected it and then put everything back together. I turned the key on and the warning lights on the cluster lit up. However I soon smelled something burning and found that I fried a wire. I mistakenly labeled the wire (which I think is a ground) positive and hooked it up to the ignition coil. What does that wire ground if I did fry it? Thanks!
  11. Okay, I know this is a dumb question (don't flame please!) but how would I meter a circuit like that? I can't say I have a lot of experience using a multi meter.
  12. Well I just replaced all the fusible links and still nothing.
  13. I was getting my Starion ready to run and ran into a problem. As the battery was being installed, something sparked as the power and ground wires were connected. Now the only things that get power are the interior lights (the dome light and the lights on the insides of the doors). There is no power to the ignition switch, so no door dinger, headlights, tail lights, or starter. I'm not too sure what the problem is, but the lack of power to the ignition switch leads me to believe its those fusible links. I already checked mine out (they look pretty nasty, so I ordered new ones from Dad) but is there anything else I should try looking at in the meantime? (more specifically any relays or fuses that control the power to the ignition) O yeah, all the wiring is out of an 89, while the body is an 87. I don't think it really makes that big of a difference though. Thanks!
  14. How do I remove the ignition cylinder on the steering column? It looks like there should be two screws that allow the part to be removed, but there is no way to turn them out. Are these screws supposed to be like this, or are mine just messed up? Thanks!
  15. http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/2394057502.html I'll consider parting out both cars if no one buys the whole package first.
  16. unrelated: dmyers151's car is the CLEANEST i've ever seen
  17. yup it's all grimy and wet under there. is there any particular way to get the cylinder out? or do is it more straightforward than i'm thinking? thanks for the help
  18. Every couple of days the brake light on the dash comes on. I look into the reservoir and notice that the level of brake fluid is down. I've been under the car while someone pressed the brake pedal and there are no leaks from bad brake lines and the pedal feels firm and the car stops fine. I also visually inspected the rubber lines to the calipers for wear or cracks (they're all fine). Is there anywhere else that a leak could occur I'm missing?
