  1. I finally got all of the issues taken care of, well most of them, I put a new oil cap on it but now when i get on it it blows oil out of the cap, and if i take the cap off it blows a lot of air out of it. This cant be normal.I just put a new pcv, and cleaned out the intercooler, and the oil/air seperator. I know that i need a new radiator because it will get hot when it is hot out and i drive.When it is cool out it stays cool and it runs great.Also the plugs on the side of the block just underneath the intake the one in the front is leaking oil but i was just wondering if any body has had the issue of oil blowing out of the cap?

  5. ok guys i just pulled the valve cover off and each rocker has a nut and it looks like an adjuster it doesnt appear to have jet valves in it.What is the best way to adjust the lifters?

  9. oil is definetly coming out of the front of the headgasket it is not leaking down from the valve cover.i cleaned the oil out of the air intake last night and the turbo.Do you think i should clean out the seperator, the intercoller and replace the valve cover gasket before i do the headgsket?I also have a throttle body rebuild kit that i want to do.I drove it to lunch today and the lower radiator hose popped a leak.It seems like every time that i driver the car something else goes wrong.I am going to park it clean and replace everything then see how the headgasket does.Thanks for all the info.

Well I thought i fixed it but last night while driving It is still smoking just not as bad the pcv valve fixed the halve of it.I am pretty sure that the head gasket is leaking.It only smokes when i come out of the boost and there is oil in the air intake pipe and the head gasket has oil all over the outside of the head.So im going to drive it,and baby it for a couple of days then im going to park her and tear the head off of it.I will propably start on it next week sometime as i have to spend time with the daughter for fathers day.Thanks alot guys for all the info.You guys will propably be hearing from me soon as i tear the head down.It is a good thing i guess because i want to rebuild the throttle body and also i want to replace all the worn hoses.

It is really weird the setup that i have The line comes off of the intake then it goes to what looks like a small fuel filter then runs to the valve cover.So does the pvc valve screw into the valve cover because i went to advance and they gave me a pvc valve that was just a normal valve like any other car would use. So i installed it were the fuel filter looking thing was and now my car is smoking so bad i couldnt even drive it to work today so i need to figure out what is going on.Obviously i need to takes the pvc valve i put in back out But how do i get one that screws into the valve cover.I can never get this car to run so i can actually have some fun.Any info will help.
  13. Does anybody have a picture of how the pcv valve should be on an 87, I bought my car and it has some weird after market one on it and i want to see how it should be.

I cleaned the motor off and i went and looked at it a little better and it is the valve cover leaking so im going to replace it.The turbo is a 12a and it doesnt seem to have any shaft play.If i dont let the turbo spool up and shift it will not smoke.This morning on the way to work it didnt smoke at all and the car ran great.Im ghoing to replace the PCV vavle today and see what happens and in the next day or two im going to replace the vc gasket thanks alot guys you are so helpful.

I just bought the car two months ago and i have been fixing the issues as they come so i dont know how old the pvc valve is but the head gasket looks to be leaking right at the front and it is not leaking down from the valve cover.The oil lines are leaking at the turbo.I will be calling you in a coulpe of days dad to get the head gaskets and the arp head bolts as i want to go ahead and replace it and go though the motor anyways.Should i replace the oil breather and the pvc valve any way?Thanks for the reply.
  18. ok guys i am having some issues, when i shift from gear to gear the car will smoke almost all the time it is coming from the turbo it only does it when it boosts up. I also noticed that the head gasket is leaking oil. Would that be the reason that the car is smoking? I am going to replace the head gasket and i would like to have the turbo rebuilt.I have never rebuilt the turbo and i was wondering if it is too hard to rebuild or i was also thinking about calling Dads shop and see if he would be able to rebuild.My question is if anybody thinks it is just the head gasket leaking causeing the turbo to smoke under bosst or should i rebuild the turbo. Also i have replaced the thermostat,replace the coolant and flushed the motor and the heater core and the car is sytill running hot, It never overheats it just runs hot at operating temp.Any info will help me but im going to get ready to tear this thing down.Thanks guys
  19. What type of trans fluid should i use for my 87 quest with 5 speed? I put synthetic in it but it acts like it doesnt like it when it gets hot it doesnt want to shift smooth all the time.

  22. The battery will read twelve volts when i charge it up and it will drop when the car is running.The alternator is just not charging.It is a brand new alt. not a rebuild.Is there a fuse or breaker for the alternator?I am so lost it is not funny i am stumped at what it could be.

On monday was driving car(87 quest) headlights on and my dash lights flickered and my volt meter dropped from 14 to twelve and my batt. light and brake light came on then went off.The volt meter just continued to dropped then it finally ran out of battery life and stoped running.It was like the alternator went out.So i buy a new alternator installed it and it is still doing it.It will run if you charge the battery until battery dies and when it is running if you unhook the battery it will die just like the alternator is not charging.I really need to get this car running as it is my only car any help would be really great.I dont have a manual as i was going to get one when i got a couple of things fixed.Thanks guys please a little help!

Thanks guys,I have done the exhaust, The next thing that im going to do is the hardpipes.I have just been trying to get everything else back together.The person that had it before me really didnt take very good care of it,I need to rebuild the throttle body and do a couple of little odd and ends and then i want to do a turbo swap andsome internal engine work.Thanks again for the info.
