Hey guys. I just picked up a new project yesterday. It's an '86 plymouth. It's been painted a blue/green. It was originally black. The PO pulled the motor and tranny for a swap. He wasn't very gentle while removing things, so there are lots of little things for me to clean up. Overall, the car is pretty solid. Haven't found anything but surface rust. Even the frame rails are in great shape. The interior is really clean, headliner looks new and the dash is clean and crack free. Somewhere along the way the keys were lost and the ignition cylinder was removed and bypassed. I will be digging in to it tomorrow and trying to get things cleaned up and start making a parts list of small things I need. I've been watching all the engine swap threads the past few years and am leaning towards doing a 2jz swap. I haven't made a final decision yet.... I'm going to clean her up and figure it out. Once I decide what direction I'm going to go with her I will start a build thread and document the progress. Until then, here a few pics just after unloading in the driveway. Thanks Ken, that's the kind of info I was looking for. The engine hasn't ever been rebuilt though. The seller is telling me its 64k original miles. I have only exchange a few emails with him and haven't looked at the car yet. Judging from the emails, he doesn't really know what's going on with the car. I'm going to try and check out the car next week and talk to him in person and figure out what's really wrong with the engine. On a positive note, the rest of the car looks great, and the price is pretty fair. Thanks

Haven't been able to confirm. I won't get to actually look at the car for a week or so. I've only talked to the seller through email so far. If it's the balance chain, what kind of damage would that cause? Thanks

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the best spot to post this question, but here goes. I'm looking at buying another quest. The car is in really great shape except for one major issue. The seller's story is that its got 64k original miles. He claims he was getting on the hi-way at 40 mph when the timing chain broke. Besides the head, what other damage would this cause??? I've never dealt with this problem, so any advice would be great. Thanks again guys.

What gauge is it ?? It looks a lot like an engine I have. Unfortunately all of my stuff is at my parents house. Also, all of my lionel stuff is actually from when my Mom was a kid , except for the larger gauge stuff that was from the early seventies when me and my brother were kids. Let me know what's up, this is a hobby I've been wanting to get back into.
