I have tried the fuel pump jumper port on my 1987 flatbody and I do not hear the fuel pump turning on. It has been sitting for 2 months but it was running and functioning 2 months ago. The fuel pump is a year old. WHat could be causing this?? Sean

Is there a way to test for a wiring short??
seanc77339 replied to seanc77339's topic in Flatbody Mechanic
THanks for all the help fellow starquesters. I stripped back both wires until I could see shiny metal and hooked them back up. Fingers crossed to see if that was the main cause. These cars are full of auto gremlins. SC -

it was a wiring short...had to cut back the secondary wiring harness a foot back just to get a signal. Noid light was a blessing in disguise. SC -

I am looking for a set of running non leaking no cracked injectors to replace the high performance delphi injector set in my 1987 conquest (running way to rich and no boost). Preferably from 1987-89. Thanks for all the help, Sc

1. What happens if you block off the farthest and the second farthest nipple on the TB of an 1987 flat-body conquest while leaving only the first one close to the firewall still stock and connected?? SC

I believe it is not working because the car hits a "hard wall" and will not accelerate (anymore) in first gear or any gear past the infamous 3K rpm mark. Thanks for all the help so far, SC -
Hello fellow tristarions: ONe of my injectors on my 87 is not receiving signal and I was wondering if there is a true way to test the wiring leading to the injector from the computer without having to completely rip the whole length of wiring out of the car?? If there is a short/rust spot, how can someone splice out the bad spot and splice in a new wire without completely messing up the conductivity?? I believe it is a short because a 9v battery will open the injector and allow gas to spray out but with injector clip connected correctly to car the injector will not open.

I believe my wiring to my injectors (flatbody 1987 conquest) are either rusted or no longer able to carry a signal. Does anyone have a wiring from computer to injectors for sale?? Thanks SC
-
The injectors are from lower-shores performance. 650CC and 950CC My car is an 87 inter-cooled flat-body conquest

Sorry about the confusion. My car is driving and running on the secondary injector. My primary is the injector that is not working. You are correct Indiana for calling me on my mistyping. Still the same problem.

I used: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00952154000P?i_cntr=1286651358842 It worked beautifully...just go very very very very slow with the drill and the screw will come out. http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-a-Stripped-Screw Sean

For argument sake/devil advocates...is there anyway that it is not the injector that is acting up. What else should I look for or test for before I send the injector back for replacement?? Is there a linkage between the ECU and injector clip that could be messed up?? What is the best way to test the injector wire clip to see if it is getting a proper signal other then a NOID light? (I have a digital voltmeter) THanks, Sean
-
I am using new injector clips and brand new injectors
-
I believe my secondary injector is not getting signal or gas but I can not prove neither. Is there anyway to test this hypothesis?? If I put my primary clip on the secondary injector...the car does not not turn over or start. If I put a 9volt battery onto the secondary injector clip...I can hear the the injector tick open. If I have my friend step on the gas pedal while in park...I can not hear the secondary injector click on. I just put a 89 ECU in the car to see if that was the problem and the car runs awesome but still hits a wall at 3K and starts bucking  Thanks for all the help, Sean

I have not checked my error codes yet. That is my next option to fixing this problem. What is the best way of doing this starion_cult? The fuel pump and all fuel filters were replaced a year ago when the pump failed. I am confused... I am presenting High CO and high O2 yet by theory: When HC's go up, O2's go down = rich condition When HC's go down, O2's go up = Lean condition when Nox (nitrates of oxygen)too high = EGR is not working. So am I experiencing a conundrum?? Bag o chips-How does one decrease O2 intake into the engine?? Thanks again
