  1. im in austin. the timing is on i used a light and set it at 10btdc. i done it how the computer says and left the vac advance on and unplugged the little black box on the driverside firewall
  2. so no one responed to what the lil temp sensor by the thermostat was
  3. alright jumped it back a tooth and it runs much better. the dowl on the cam was just to the left of 12. now im running really rich. the thing is loping like a big block

  5. im hearing different storys on where the cam mark on the cam gear should be. alldata says to line it up on the right side of the head level with the head. i set the rockers at .006 intake and .010 exhaust but im going to recheck them with the engine at operating temp.
  6. tdc compression stroke and cam gear mark aligned with the right side of the head correct
  7. here is the low down. I just installed a new head(witch came with everything cam rockers ect...) non jet valve mech rockers, new timing and balance shaft eli kit, new water pump, did pretty much a complete rebuild cept the short block. heres my problem. got it all back together and it fired right up. It idles great the turbo spools no problem but the car does not pull at all pulled a plug pure white way lean:( wich port does the vac advance go to? how much vacuum should i get at idle? Im only gettin 10-12. my ign timging it right at 10 btdc. everything seems right on spec. well what im thinking i might be a tooth off on the cam timing. let me know what you think. whats the lil temp sensor right by the thermostat housing mine has never been hooked up.

  12. the valves are not stellite faced. he said he could swap them in but there like 30 a pop. everything is new. has mechinacal rockers
  13. hmm the other one comes with everything valves cam ect... I dont have much money and i dont want to use all my old valve terain.

  15. got a few test still to do but might be replacing the head gasket soon. I have done quite a few head gaskets on BMW's so im not new to it. Is there anything thats going to be a pain? Is there anything i should do when i have the head off? Im going to do the timing chain wile im in there. Suggestions on a HG? Any tips would be nice. thanks
  16. so i have a new battery and alt. when i have everything on like fans, lights, radio ect... the alt gauge will pull about 1/4 inch down past half way. at idle with nothing on but the fan its cranking out 13.7v. Any help would be great. can anyone tell me the part number for the low temp fan switch, i replaced both switches with the stock ones but i would like to run 2 low temp switches. Im worried about the tx heat already had the rad rodded out. When is the pusher fan supposed to kick on? Is it only for the a/c? thanks

  18. got the star running today. couldnt figure out what was wrong with it, got it to the shop and hooked up the fuel pressure tester and took it for a drive. At idle it was making 39lbs which is perfect. So i took it for a drive and when i would floor it the fuel psi would go down to 15.7lbs. looked at alldata and checked my fuel filter it was fine a lil dirty dropped the tank and it was full of rust!!! Power washed the crap out of the tank and cleaned the sock put it back together runs great. Couldnt find a place to boil my tank. All is good for now.
  19. i want to be able to run the pri/sec injectors rather than both firing back and forth. if i switched to an 89 ecu and 89 injectors would this be all that i would have to do? Let me know, and is it worth it.

  23. So im sitting at the RR tracks waiting for the train to go by and it really starts missing only like 300rpm. I pump the gas and it missing hard and will only rev to like 2500rpm. So im like S*** my fuel pump is out. So im like 200ft from my place so i ease it there. I make sure everything is connected and it is. I pop off the fuel line and turn the key on and no fuel comes out? So i crank it and it pumps a ton of fuel out. Thought it was supposed to pressurize when you turn the key on. Anyways it was definately getting fuel when you crank it. this is what im thinking it could be. maybe it loaded up and fouled a plug when i was waiting at the rr? pluged injector? Just trying to get ideas all my tools are at work so i cant do anything till tomorrow. Too top it all off when i was putting the fuel line back on one of the bolts snapped.
