  1. DD, That seal comes with the replacement ignition pick-up (in the distributer, two wires hook up to it). I would suggest you change that part and "service the distributer" since you are doing a "tune-up" and it may be the original part. However, if you are confident that the ignition pick-up is relatively "newer" the bead of silicon should do the trick...of course the intention is to keep moisture out of the distributer.
  2. I don't hate burgandy! What kind of shape are the upper door panels in, if you still have them?
  3. Oh, you'se got jokes? LOL! Meet up? Are you coming to North Carolina? Thanks man.
  4. Waiting to hear from another rmember out west, but if that does't come through, you just might get it! LOL!! Hopefully, they have it or it can still be ordered. Thanks man, I appreciate it.
  5. Got the part I needed from this member with zero issues. No waiting, no excuses, no long time periods with no communication and no drama. Highly recommended.
  6. Same thing on my 88 auto, BUT, I fixed it by grabbing some rubber grommets, metal washers and cotter pins at the local auto parts store, worked like a charm and CHEAP too! I kinda gave up searching for the factory style bushings, although there may be some out there somewhere. I just took my time and in about an hour, installed them all...considering there was nothing to take out because they had all dissentegrated, and adjusted.
  7. On the premise your system is already fuctioning properly, but could use a recharge.... I used the new stuff (134); throughly evacuate the system. I added one can of 134 leak sealer and conditioner (refrigerant) followed by one can of regular 134 refrigerant (got both cans at walmart). That did the trick for me.
  8. This is an old post, but just wondering if you still have the sunroof knob assembly? Thanks.
  9. Nope. if there is one, I didn't see it. Never hurts to evac the system anyways. working like a charm now.
  10. Gang, I evacuated they system and installed the new pressure switch. The system is functioning properly and producing ice cold air...around 38 degrees on the thermometer, just sitting in the garage at idle. The system is cycling too. Thanks for the help guys, I truly appreiciate it.
  11. Well, I went back out this morning and replaced the temp sensor on the t-stat housing and still no luck. I tried the jumper wire on the lower pressure switch again, and wha-la, the compressor kicked on. So, it looks like you guys were right, the pressure switch is the culprit. The sensor on the t-stat housing was bad also, as it would spin, luckily I had one of those. I do have a spare pressure switch, but it is old and condition unkown, so I will try to install a new one first. I found two at Rock Auto for 1.78 each (close out), so I ordered them, but will continue looking. Anybody know another source, cross reference or like type that I can substitute with? Thanks guys. Well, surprise, surprise, Auto Zone has two of them, so I am going to pick them up and install them and see what happens, will let you guys know.
  12. Thanks guys! I did the jumper wire routine and the clutch did not engage. When the compressor is on, there is the typical difference in engine RPM, to handle the increased load, which seems ok. I will double check everything and replace the temperature (over heat) switch, (I got a new one around here somewhere) and see what I get. I will post the results today.
  13. Gang, Been churning away at the 88 Durban automatic. Everything is going well, well except for the A/C (of course). All connections, relays and grounds seem to be fine. If I add power directly to the compressor, it fires right up and will run and the system produces cold air, which of course is good. Bad part is, the system (compressor) will not engage automatically as it should. The A/C fuse is good and there is power to the blue+red wire on the compressor relay, but none on the black+white wire. The FSM depicts an interface with the ECI just before the compressor, and I am thinking that the ECI somehow allows the clutch to engage (get power via the black+white wire). I was wondering would the ECI prevent the compressor from engaging? Has anyone else had this symptom/problem and resolved it? The wiring harness is not hacked at all. As always thanks for your input.
  14. Hope he pulls through, he really has done a lot for the SQ community, and mentored many on ways to keep the turbo spooling. Best to him and his family.
  15. OK, I guess I will have to have a look at it and see whats up.
  16. Gang, I need the sun roof open and closing mechanism. I have not taken the one I have apart to see what the deal is, but it just spins and spins and will not open or close. I could also use the sun roof trim (NOT the seal). Please let me know if you have one and how much you want for it. I use pay pal and shipping will be to zip code 28311. if you bother to respond, PLEASE LET KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT FOR THE PART, thanks.
  17. Dave, Thanks, but got one from another member.
  18. Thanks guys! I bought a new vacuum modulator to install and will hook up the vacuum hose. As of right now, I have not driven the car it is up in the air on jack stands....a familiar scene for most of us I am sure, LOL. Thanks again!
  19. Hi guys, I am finishing up a 88 durban automatic (all my other SQ's are manuals), but have a question about the transmission vacuum modulator. Their is a small metal tube that goes from the intake manifold down to the side of the transmission where the vacuum modulator is. When I first saw the tube, the end by the transmission had a screw stuck in it (I guess to stop the vacuum leak). Is this tube supposed to be connected to the vacuum modulator? If so, why? If not, what is it suppose to be connected to? Thanks.
  20. Just wondering if anyone is running this size on the 9 inch SHP wheel. Any issues? Thanks.
  21. Gang, Seeking the metal tube that goes from the air can (oil separator/return) to the rear of the valve cover. This tube is secured by a bolt on the turbo housing. Still seeking OE type battery hold down (goes on top of the battery to keep it from moving). Please let me know what you have and how much to 28311, thanks.
  22. Gang, I am sure it's been brought up before, I was just wondering if anybody knows were to get them, thanks.
