  1. i'm getting ready to rebuild my engine and would like to know what would be a better replacement head. I've read plenty and noticed a number of different heads from Clearwater, Marnel, Alabama etc. I know Clearwater is a head sold from Clearwater, FL and Marnel heads are available at TEP and other sites but WHICH one would be a better replacement ffor my engine. The rebuild will be totally stock and I want to incorporate some bolt ons when I get the car running right. OR since i'm going completly stock do I just keep the stocker? I live in a desert-very hot climate so I want to make sure I don't want to have flow problems. This will be my daily driver and not a race car, I just want to have a little power when I need it. Thanks, Mike
  2. question for the experienced. I have an 88 i'm getting ready to rebuild and my question is which would be a better stock replacement head? I'm not trying to create a 300hp car just a daily driver with some bolt-ons. I've read many posts and have heard of many options (marnel, alabama, clearwater, etc.) but I live in the desert and my car would have deal with a lot of heat during driving conditions. Thanks, Mike

  4. I have an 88 starion that I don't have time for and am selling for $800 obo. this was purchased as a project car, it is bone stock and currently not running (blow head gasket). I purchased the car this way in 2006. The car was sitting in a lot that was flooded in 2006 and water did enter the car. This is a complete car that needs some attention. I have the title which I have not transfered in my name but it is signed by the previous owner. I will post pics this weekend. let me know if anybody has any questions. The car is located in El Paso, TX which is far West Texas. Mike
  5. wanted to know what would be the best thing to use for cleaning my inter-cooler?
  6. Hey Tim C. can you recommend a set of pistons and rods and where I could purchase them? FlattopMIke my car is an 88. If the head turns out to be fine would you suggest porting? or where can I purchase an after market head? you mentioned the cooling problems would you recommend an aftermarket IC? could you guys point out a couple of websites I can purchase products or where I can find them? Thanks again!
  7. Quick story- I was in high school when these cars came out and I had always wanted to own one for the longest time. Of course, twenty years later I finally bought one but unfortunately this one has a blown head gasket. I want to rebuild the engine but need everyones input on these cars. I know these cars are fun to drive but I want to get some good horsepower for those go fast days but I don't want go overboard on my budget (engine rebuilt, interior, paint, etc.) Rebuild I want to know how much horsepower I can get without getting to technical with engine internals? Do I need to upgrade the cam, pistons, etc. because if it is not necessary I would prefer not to do it. Also, this car is bone stock-what sort of bolt-on upgrades can you guys suggest? Thanks, Mike
  8. have an 89 starion with a blown head gasket. I am wanting to rebuild the engine and would like anyone's opinion/expertise/etc. I want to create as much horsepower with the stock motor if possible. I will be upgrading as much "bolt-on" pieces as possible but from everyones experience what would be the best set up to create at least 300 hp or even just a bit less without blowing up my budget. I've had some local input in starting off with a fuel management system (ideas on which kind). Your comments will appreciated. thx. mike
  9. wanted to know if you have this motor still up for sale? what model year was this from? could you let me know which head gasket you used? how much to ship to 79924? could you send me some pics at michaelozzi@yahoo.com
  10. I recently purchased an 87 starion w/115,000 miles for $500. the car just needs a new head gasket. The car has not been started in about 6 to 8 months. basically I wanted to get any input on where I would need to start off when getting the car preped before trying to start it up and of course after I get the new gasket replaced. Everything is intact and the engine compartment just needs to be cleaned due to the car sitting in a dirt lot. thanks mike
