Wolf87Conquest Posted February 23, 2008 Report Share Posted February 23, 2008 It can be bypassed, like any other electrical part...but it will burn out the bulbs pretty quick.It's there so you have control of the brightness, bypassing will have the bulbs on full bright as full 12 volts would go to them. That stat on full bright doesn't allow the full 12 volts...close but not quite.I haven't tried taking one apart, but if it can be disassembled, a little contact cleaner might bring it back to working order. Probably not, seems more and more of these things are sealed plastic and considered throw aways. A shame really, when all it'd probably need is a good cleaning of the contact surfaces.If you have a bad one, you could look and find out if it could come apart. Maybe cut it open...lol.
