87 Wheels- 7s and 8s, not SHP, will trade for beer

I have a set of wheels from an 87 that was a donor for my turbo swapped Montero. They are all in solid shape, but a refinishing would be needed if all the paint on your car is in great shape. They have rubber, but not enough to create any real additional value. The fronts are nearly to the wear bars, the rears are better.

I have a local ad running, but no real activity. Doing some cleaning, but can't bear to just take them to the yard for scrap. You guys here were helpful when I was doing my swap. They can be picked up if you leave some beer behind. (Imports or micro brews please.)

Greater Cleveland area (Go Cavs, beat the Spurs...). Best bet is to email me if interested.

Ride on,

Bill

Hey Derek:

Is your Quest on the road? If you can drive it over, I'll trade you the tires for some time under your hood.

My donor quest had the top end all apart. The guy I got it from assured me it was running before he started in on a head job. I'd say he was full of it though as the gasket below the TB was shot and when I started for the first time it immediately started dumping coolant into the cylinders.

Anyways, I have an issue with power dropping off once I go past 4k RPMs. The first thing I want to do is trace all vacuum lines (his were "in tact"). I would love to have a properly running car to look at to do that.

I'm in Fairview Park. If you're game and this weekend is even an option for you, email me at bill.mcvicker@triventure.com. I'll get it on my handheld faster than I might log back in here.

Thanks,

Bill

As a matter of fact, yes, it's on the road and running good. I'll email you with my cell number.

Yeah, Derek got them the first few days after, sorry.

As for my engine, it was worth him driving over for me as there was a mis-plumbing in the vac lines. Even so, it dod not greatly improve things.

Also, dizzy vac advance passes the basic suck-and-hold test. Injectors also pass the swith clips and look in the TB test.

it is running much better though, for one reason in particular, and maybe a second related.

- I used the SQ IC pipes, with a little extending here and there via 1.75" exhaust pipe. I noticed that the long curved one that starts from the turbo looked a little flat. Did some fanagling and looking with a flashlight and sure enough, the closed hood was hitting it. I made some tweaks to the routing and got it pretty much cleared up.

- Now it starting pulling better, and getting past 4k rpms, though still not too strong past. I know the basics about the motor only revving so far and all that. But still it seemed to be falling short of expectations.

- I then went the hillybilly route to test a little and got some flexible exhaust and a little more hard pipe. I now have pretty much the whole IC route hard-piped as it were. (Though the flex I am pretty sure leeks some at the seems.)

- Now it is really running better and has truly become fun to drive.

- Amazing what a little more air flow will do... (I know- 101 sutff...)

I am now chomping hard at the bit to do some real 2.25" ICs and get a 2.5 DT and bigger exhaust from there.

Thanks for the thoghts...
