Ractive racing seats

FWIW, I've installed 3 pair of the 3A's seats at my shop (2 Cavaliers, 1 Neon)  And am fairly impressed by the quality of construction vs. price.  The light blue ones are a fairly hideous shade- be warned!  One Cav required me to build complete risers for both seats, as the owner was transfering the stock units to another car and wanted them complete.  NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!

I was about to buy some gray/black Gen 2 APC seats. I even had one in the car to see how it would look. Awesome btw- However the upper bolster were just nailing the door so for a good fitment make sure you buy a thinner seat.

oh yeah the sliders looked to be a total pain as well for the APC seats

all nice pics. from what you guys have worked with do any sit lower than the stock? or can you set the rails back farther? im a pretty big guy , 6ft2 and a couple 100 lbs :P the ride is nice but my knees bump on the wheel a little and it gets a bit annoying switchin cars and having to get used to it again. or maybe a smaller steering wheel? thnx if you guys can give me any tips ;)

aftermarket sits at their best are the same height as the factory ones. unless you make some trick modifications, it will be very difficult to mount the seats any lower than stock. just get smaller steeringwheel and keep your stock seats.

i was considering the starquest steering wheel with just the mitsubishi emblem on it instead of the other one thats on it now with starion across the horn. my bro who used to own the starion said he thought the emblem wheel was smaller by some or get a squared steering wheel or more than likely considering money wise just grab a old 11 inch wheel from somewhere because most squared steering wheels are a pretty penny unless you count those rice-a-licious looking apc that are at advance

here are the seat brackets I came up with. they are rather easy to make. the hardest part is the side near the transmission tunnel. what you need to do is take a long bolt and find a sleeve with a thick sidewall to pull over it. the sleeve will have to be welded to the bottom of the bracket.

then the seats should be welded to the bracket. they could also be bolted to the brackets but welding is easier.

this is as low as the seats can go without cutting and making custom mounting locations.

sparco seats are the best buy. they wont break on you  :). those matrix or apc or whatever seats will break very quickly. i have a friend that bought some matrix ones. they're already broken. my sparco ones are still holding strong!  ;)
