I always wanted to put Audi style door handles on my VWs and think the style from most 91-97 Audi's with that flush look would be perfect for our cars. quest925 Posted August 30, 2004 Author Report Share Posted August 30, 2004 Yes, exactly. Painted body color. It would actually be a pretty simple mod for a body shop. The handle kits they sell come with a backing plate, good ones with locking mech (built into handle like OEM-Audi) and would be welded on, sanded, painted and then to save labour, just rout the locking mech/rod...I was even thinking of making the handle-just the lift part black like a modern 80s thing...but no... quest925 Posted August 31, 2004 Author Report Share Posted August 31, 2004 I dont have a pic to post, but I like the ones from the A6, 95-98 the best, they are recessed and still would look factory which is my aim for my car-to retain the stock look with some sweet updated details. I spoke to another body shop which I work with and he said it wouldnt be difficult or to $$$, but had to ask his fabricator what he thought about the linkage. I havent compared what the new handle will need vs what is stock inside the door yet, but whe he starts I will have some nice pics for all. Im posting a lot of body mods here cause since Im repairing all the rust on my car and have to repaint it, I might as well try/get opinions and advice on all I want to do...
