YELLOWHELL
I would like to separate the two parts so I can convert them to led's has anyone separated them before?
JustPaus_88TSi
There's no reason to seperate the lights just for LED's.. they just plug right in like regular bulbs... Just make sure they're 1157 LED's, not 1156... The only reason to seperate the taillight housing is to take out the red plastic insert, to make clear tails.. 89onaquest
I took small tack hammer and semi-wide screwdriver and knocked out the retaining tabs first, then soaked in hot water bath. Came apart no probs.
eck_007
kitchen sink.......11 pots of boiling water.........gently pry apart a little at a time working your way around and youve got it. "the 11 pots is what i used, may take more, it may take less" ;D
YELLOWHELL
I got mine apart with no problems. I used a heat gun around the back where the glue is. It just took alot of patience. The reason I need to separate them is because there was a leak on it so the metal reflective plate inside rusted out. I'm gonna go with a custom led setup I want to retain the square look to the led pattern. I'm going to mold clear lexan over the led's when I'm done. I doubt lexan will spiderweb like the stock plastic does.
