  1. That is not MS'N'EDIS That is MS as a fuel computer, and the stock ignition... 2 entirely different things...
  2. Imagine the over-head 3K climate.... That would be NICE... 8)
  3. 1/4" foam project board... Avail at any wal mart.... Kinda dense, but a layer of RTV for the deeper spots and your done...
  4. Actually I have seen VERY few other systems that work well with MS without major changes to the program code. So yes the majority are forced by default to use the EDIS system. Yes the lower price of the MS is a good attribute... but considering that you can find AEM and Hawk systems on Ebay for 6-800 kind of makes you wonder... And no, they are not on there all the itme, but ocassionally they are that cheap. We just ended up going with the complete DSM set up...
  5. I have built and worked with MS.... as it is now, it has problems going past 9K... The Ford EDIS system will only go so high, it is the problem. SOME have got it to work (But it is not all that stable) above 10K. It tends to drop firing cycles. If your below 9k your fine. Nothing to worry about. Even with the 8X8 tables you would be fine. Set values for idle, begining of powerband, some through out power band and 9K redline. So that would give you 6 powerband values. And you keep saying both here and on DJ's board how cheap it is... for that 256 you get the ECM ONLY... You still need to buy sensors... $40+ You still need to buy wire for the wiring harness... $who knows.... I would HIGHLY recomend the relay box... $ I forget how much... After helping to build 2 of these.... both ran well over the $500 final price range and those were "stock" MS kits... I never said that MS was worthless, I keep taking issue with you keep saying it is cheap. It is not all that "cheap". For those that do not know, Joe and Myself were tring to rung the 4G63 motor on an MS... After several attempts, we never got it running on it. Joe was also unhappy with the 9K redline... after all the motor is balanced and blueprinted... so 11K should not be an issue.
  6. A $5 hardline works too... Hell We just cut and reflared the stock line...
  7. May sound silly but has anyone considered... Getting one with a longer shaft, but a shorter body? You could then mess with the shaft length by making shaft covers that would be welded into place to get the desired length?... Â Â Â Â -------------- -------|<--> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â |----] -------|<--> Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â |----] Â Â Â Â -------------- It may be worth looking into.... then you may find that the Mustang 2 reacks are alot more appealing... they may be too short as is, but some hollow .120 wall tubing and a welder later... they are the perfect fit.... And yes it would be a very near exact science... but one could also tap/die the shaft, and the tubing and have it adjustable with lock nuts just like the standard steering toe adjustment... Just throwing out the idea...
  8. Prepare fpr MPI swap... Header... turbo... and full exhaust.... that will net mid 13's at the very least... but expect more to get into the 12's
  9. someone said 4-500 for mustang wheel spacers... 1" billet 99... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=42614
  10. how many threads you going to do on this thing? I have counted at least 3...
  11. Stainless are 30, for the flange http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4514740020&category=6755 , reg steel is 10-14 (sorry the one I got months ago was 8...) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=33742 these flanges would be welded to the manifold to run the T3... The external wastegate flange is... 17 here, but again they can be found for between 10 and 30 depending oin material and seller... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=33742
  12. and cheaper... We "adapted" a T25 manifold to a T3 manifold for 8 bucks... even tig welded for an additional 18...
  13. or even simpler solution... WELD a tapped T3 flange plate on... Total cost... I will be generous and say 30 bucks... 10 for the flange and a VERY generous 20 to have welded...
  14. Marhyde can paint over about everything. As for the trouble... expect alot of little things. I would suggest doing in portions to make it easier. Like headliners first, a pillars/ rear side panels second ECT...
  15. Actually I do not think that one post was enough. By your wording, you are not considering what I said at all. Forget it... I said what I had to say... do whatever, then I can tell you "I told you so"...
  16. Kome, this has nothing to do with you as a person. This is about a person that has watched this forum for quite some time, and been members of other forums that decided to do EXACTLY what you are proposing. I am attempting to be a stern voice of warning. I am not saying it is not a good idea, it is. Truely it is. But once you open that door it is very hard to close, and once opened it wreaks havoc. I have heard ALOT of good ideas, but once put into practice, it had the oppisite effect and did far more harm then intended. IF this is done, it needs to be HIGHLY moderated and VERY STRICT rules. I would even go as far to suggest the 2 strike rule. 1st time goof up, understood forgiven, 2nd, your out. I... well hell I have said what I needed to say. Listen, don't, do whatever. If it happens, I will surmise I will no longer frequent these boards.
  17. I remember a very long time ago a third gen board decided to include the GNX and Monte Carlo... the board was well.... nearly decimated. All the old hands (including myself) warned the owners/mods and they did it anyway. The result, nearly 70% (about 104 people that were long in years of membership) of the "old hands" left, never to return. And they changed it back less then 3 months later. But the damage by that point had already been done. Hell the owner was a freind of mine, and he was really wanting to sell the URL and be done with it at one point. Actually he did sell it about 4 months later. I do not know what became of the site after that. I simply cannot stress this enough. If they decide to do it, it is out of my hands, but they need to think long and hard about it. As I said before, I have seen numberous GOOD forums go to hell that decided to expand. It sounds really good in theory, but so do alot of other things...
  18. This has little to do with the G54B. I am telling you from experience from other boards that "expanded" to include other cars. The went to hell. Instead of staying focused on what the site was about, they went openwide, and it became nothing. I am all for having forums to talk about cars, but some applied rules are needed. You talk about a VERY SMALL group of vehicles. Usually a "generation" that is composed of a vehicle (IE Third gen F Bodies-82-92 camaro's and firechickens) that have nearly everything in common. It covers all variants of that vehicle, but that vehicle ONLY. Another example the DSM forums, they talk about a "Generation" of vehicles that are very similar. The Galant, talon, eclipse, laser, and others. They are all SIMILAR. A Quest, and a D50 have little in common. A Quest and a Montero have little in common. A Quest and anything else really, have little in common. That is the standpoint I look at it from. If questions are asked by the other people, fine, I am not saying ban them. But they should not become equall shares in a rare forum about a vehicle that shares nothing in common with them. I also see it as this, people say the D50 has a devoute following. Well why are they only on the Yahoo boards? Why do they not have a board like SQC? That opinion goes for any vehicle you may want to "add" to SQC. If I ruffled feathers, well too bad. I am tring to be the voice of reason. When you add too many things to the recipe, it tastes like crap. The same thing goes for vehicle forums, you try to discuss too many cars, nothing is done effectively anymore. DO I actually care if it is done? No. I could care less. I am just tring to warn others what they are tring to do. I have seen it done, and it has ruined EVERY SINGLE BOARD I SAW THAT DID IT. Hell it's not likle I even frequent this board anymore.
  19. You can talk about OTHER VEHICLES powered by the 54B all you want. The 54B is the 54B. N/A, turbo it's STILL A 54B SO what works on one will work on others. SO what do people do, they put on bigger turbo's, the TR intake, homemade manifolds, exhaust's, cam's and what the hell ever else there is out there. The wanting to put otgeather a forum discussing the 54B is all over this site. However moving from a Conquest/Starion site to a What-the-hell-ever has a G54B on THIS site will be shut down, never allowed to live. It would move from a Starquest origin to anything powered by mitsubishi board... because well, just about anything before 92 that mitsu made had a good chance of having the 54B.
  20. there already is a 2.0 swap board... DJ's www.beatingyou.com/forum there is very little you will not find there about the swap issues ect...
  21. this person came over to DJ's site asking us to come over here lending a word on the 4G63 swap.... Who here does not know of DJ's site and what it is about? I will say the same thing I said there, DJ's is about the '63 swap period, not just in the quest, just the swap into other vehicles too. It is a specialist site, point blank. It deals with one issue. Now to this thread... yes everyone knows the 54B is undersupported, and ignored. Hense why some go for the engine swap, or other meathods. Though I will say that there are probly very few ideas that have not been discussed at one point or another. The search button on any forum is a handy thing. Though some of the onsite search engines are junk. Thoug yes it would be nice to have a site that deals with nothing but building the 54B, but I coulda swore that was already done here... on these forums. Hell a 54B is a 54B right?
  22. Yes that would be better. But still not the best. For the absolute best performance you want a solid flow path with little or no air escape path. I never said I did not like the design, because I do like it, cosmetically. But cosmetics do not make it the best design points. Take in point the A-10 Warthog. An ugly plane that takes getting used to. But it is specific built, and in that specific purpose, nothing else is better. The point, not everything that is pretty is useful, and not everything useful is pretty. That's my Zen lesson for the day.
  23. True, however... we still need those other measurements...
  24. a 245/45/16 is a little over 12" and they can rub sometimes. so either an 11.50 or 12 at the most. the 26/28 10.50's want 7-10 rim width all the 12.50's want 8.5-11 rim width. answer ya that time?
  25. Joe has his modded Cyclone for sale if ya want it. PM me and I will send you his Email.
