eldos
I need to make a camshaft sensor for the Quest because I am using the Autronic with a MSD DIS2 ignition. I could use the old distributor to mount a trigger wheel or try to mount a sensor to the cam shaft gear. I think I will try the modified distributor. Any other ideas? shift1313
just go to the junkyard and get a crank trigger off any ford that uses it. thats how the megaspark edis system works
eldos
I have a crank trigger wheel, but I still need to ref. The cam on Number One cylinder. A crank trigger will give you 2 pulses. One on intake and one on exhaust. I guess some other systems use an odd/even ref. so you can time just off the crank. It seems to be a down side of the Autronic. Steve Gee 88 ESIR
Joel
You should only need the cam trigger if you are planning either Sequential ignition or injection. I thought the autronic would support batched modes and multiple trigger types? Joel
eldos
Well, The waste spark is where it gets messy. Because you are igniting 2 cylinders at once, The ECU needs to know where number one is for the injectors. You can't take a direct signal from the ignition. I know, it crazy. Other systems are not such a pain in the @ss for setting up a waste spark system. The Basic system again is Chads intake, Autronic smc computer, and MSD DIS2 Steve Gee 88 ESIR
Joel
I run Wastespark and Batch fire injection with a crank trigger. It requires a twin pole trigger (one pole for sync, one for triggering). Joel
