Richie_Rich
Since I've had a few requests and interest, I am going to run another GP for the Marnal heads. There is really no minimum for this GP, but I'd like to get at least 10 takers to make it worthwhile.  If I don't get 10, that's the way it goes. Marnal NON-Jet head bare with cam towers and valve seats. Valve seats already have a 3 angle grind, so no extra machine work is needed. I can also get stock type valves from Marnal.  They are made by IVAM.  The exhausts are Stainless Steel.  You can get either the late model(Pre-'84) or early style valves.  There is really no difference between the two except for length and the retainers. The biggest problem you will have with the early style valves is trying to find the correct retainers and keepers.  They are very hard to find and they are expensive if you do. The advantage to the early style valves is they are a bit longer and work well with reground cams.  You do not need to order the valves if you don't want them.  I am just giving you the option to save a bit of money. Head shipped to lower 48 states:  $325 Valves if you order with the head:  $ 40 Valves if you order separately:  $50 There are three payment options as listed below: PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT PAYPAL ACCOUNT YOU SEND PAYMENT TO Paypal charges a fee to receive a credit card payment.  The Paypal account that accepts credit card payments, charges a percentage  for all payments even if it is cash from a checking account.  I have two Paypal accounts to help deter some of these fees.  If you don't have a Paypal account, here's a link:  https://www.paypal.com/refer/pal=DKVBF49ANV5VQ  ***********************************************************   To pay using Paypal from your checking account:  Make sure to give Paypal the actual Checking account number. Not the debit card number.  Send $325 for the head to: marnal-gp@charter.net If you want the valves too send an additional $40 This account is a personal type and does not have any fees.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------  --  To pay using Paypal and your Credit card or Debit card:  Send $335 for the head to: marnal-gp-credit@charter.net If you want the valves too send an additional $40 ------------------------------------------------------------------------  --   To pay by mailing a check or money order:  Send $325 for the head to:       Marnal Group Purchase        c/o: Richard Fennell        3127 Arrow Rock Drive        St. Charles, MO 63303   If you want the valves too send an additional $40 Make Money Orders or Checks payable to: Richard Fennell  In the memo, put "Marnal Head GP".   Pease make sure your check will clear.  We don't want to spoil this GP with bad check fees.  Not only will it delay the whole process, it will piss everyone else off.  ********************************************************  When sending payments, make sure you provide all contact information along with your screen name here, a phone number and a good shipping address. (No PO boxes)   I may need to contact you if there is a problem with payment or shipping.  ******************************************************** The time frame for the GP: I will confirm and collect money until October 30th, 2004 Marnal will ship out the heads after that. As we get closer to Oct. 30th, I will know a better date for delivery. They get shipments from the factory several times a month and they all have to clear customs. If someone needs their head before the beginning of November, let me know and I'll check Marnal Stock and get it shipped ASAP.  Confirmation List: ******************************************** *1.  dan87quest w/Late valves - (PAID)* *2.  Trevor T. Richie_Rich
Thank you for getting this going, paypal will be coming October 16th. Â Did you say that they have the '83 valves but no retainers or keepers? Yes, I do NOT currently have a source for the retainers and keepers. The only one I know right now is Tim C that has a good source. Rich
phishfud
Man, thse GP's are killin me, but I have been waiting for this one, so put me down for it. Since the head is already cut for a 3-angle job, would the valves be cut to match, or will they need machined? If the valves are ready to go in with no mods, then I can use a set of the later ones, but if they need cut as well, then just the head. hope that makes sense. Thanks. Richie_Rich
The valves seat with no machining required. I've set up two new Marnal's with new valves and I didn't even have to lap the valves on either setup. Rich
phishfud
Sweet. I forgot one thing, are the valves available for hyd or mech lifters? I would need to have valves for hyd lifters if possible. If this all works, then certainly put me down for the head, with valves. thanks alot. Richie_Rich
There is no difference in the valves for mechanical or hydraulic lifters. Thanks, Rich
Evil_Betty
I will be in for one head and the late style valves(all 8, correct?). Should have payment for you in the next week or so, definently before the end of October. -Justin Come on people, we only need 6 more of you!! 88_ESI_R
Ok, I'm very interested in this but still being new to the Starquest can someone explain to me the differences between a stock 88 head and one of these non-jet heads? Thanks
six_out_6
Rich, put me in for some '83 SS valves (ex. side) and reg valves for intake. The difference between the stocker on the Marnal is the flow and the jet-valves. The jet-valves are pretty much drilled holes in the head at each cylinder. They are there for emmisions, since the 80's were crazy about them. These holes severly weaken the head and are a definite no no. Upgrading will save you from blowing something and possibly at the worst time, guess what happened to me? lol. Non-jet head is a #1 upgrade for these beasts. Richie_Rich
I hope to finish this up by the end of this month. Oct 30th If I get a barage of people needing later finish date, I can split it up into two batches. It gets a little rough keeping up on a GP when the holidays come around. Trevor, Are you saying you want 4 early valves and 4 late valves. If so, you will need 4 early retainers and locks and just reuse your stockers for the other 4 valves Both styles have S.S. exhaust if that's what you are after. ssjrrupp
Please add me to the list of people who will buy. I will send my PayPal pmt on Wednesday, October 13th. My valves look pretty good so I will stick with what I have until I am recommended otherwise. Thanks, -Justin

CherryTSi
What else would have to be done to the heads, to get running, assuming we bought them with valves?
Richie_Rich
If you buy the head with new valves, no machine work is needed. You do need a valve spring compressor though. (C-Clamp style) Take the good parts from your old head and assemble the new head with them. I always check how the valves will seat to make sure everything is OK. You can do this when you are assembling the head by putting the valve in the hole and giving it a hard flip closed. Remove the valve and take a good close look at the face. If you see a consistant ring around it where it hit the seat, you are fine.
six_out_6
What else would have to be done to the heads, to get running, assuming we bought them with valves? I have the 88 Conquest manual on my pc if you want it. The manual has a blow-up of the head engine and all the other goodies on these beasts. It has everything you need for the head and to understand how it works. Let me know if you want it and what e-mail to send it to. mrdodge01
Hey rich... I'll need one of these heads too... Â I'm probably going to run a sneider cam, so I don't know which valves I will need... I've tried to read all the cam and valve topics, but it's usually late at night and it just gives me a headache, lol. Â If it will work with the later style valves, I'd rather run those, for availibility of parts. Â Thanks for the GP! and I'll see ya saturday ;D

B.K.
How much extra would it cost to have the intake and exhaust ports, fully race ported and polished?
Richie_Rich
How much extra would it cost to have the intake and exhaust ports, fully race ported and polished? I don't do this work myself because I don't have a flow bench yet. I'd like to build one, but time has been pretty scarce these days. To port a head correctly, you should flow each port as you go so they are consistant. Porting can be pretty expensive. Try asking on the advance VM board for suggestions of places to go. Kellydaman may have a good source. Try PM'n him
