Rod Eales Posted September 9, 2023 Report Share Posted September 9, 2023 Hi, I just purchased a 86 Starion with the Sirius Dash head 3x2. I know that the extra 4 valves kick in at around 2500-2600. I believe its a 12v solenoid that activated at that rpm and guessing it opens up a hydraulic system to get the extra set of valves working. Now mine makes a horrible rattling noise as soon as it hits 2500rpm. Almost sounds like rockers too loose or could be the solenoid opening and closing really quick? Either way, it's a really noticeable sound Does anyone have any info on these 3x2 Dash heads? and any trouble shooting or service manuals for these? I have searched the web high and low and have come up with nothing. I have taken the rocker cover off and inspected things to make sure nothing was loose etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We didn't get that engine in our cars here in the states, only the 2.6L G54B. www.austarion.com would be a better source for your issue.
