boostinmini
Hey guys and gals just wondering if any one could give me some advice of why this could have happened to my rebuilt motor. Suddenly got a oil leak one day behind the transmission..turns out the gasket for the rear main seal blew out and caused my oil leak. My assumption is to much crank case pressure cause at the time I only had a valve cover breather...since then I have moved it to the suction side of the turbo. Would you use another paper gasket or better off with sine good silicone?

Dad
Is the metal plate missing in the seal housing? that can cause a leak, it helps to keep oil from splashing on the seal... also be sure your bolts arent too long and bottoming out. I never saw a rear seal gasket failure. Dad
boostinmini
Metal plate is there..everything torqued to spec and proper fastners. If I could post a picture from my phone I would kinda neat really if it was not so much work to take a 4wd trans out.
